Victoria Beckham's Posh Dress Designs

Awhile back we mentioned the fact that Victoria Beckham was getting into the designer dress business in an unexpectedly low-key way, and so it only seems fitting now to show off some of what she came up with. She clearly favors pencil skirts and below the knee lengths, although in the collection below she does have a couple mini-skirts and even a pretty wool cape for chilly evenings. But her style is hardly forgiving of less than perfect figures, and since most of her designs seem to be based on the same basic shape I think you'll either look great in all of her styles of none of them.

Victoria Beckham Plans Quiet Dress Debut

The Beckhams have a knack for getting themselves into the spotlight, so it seems a little out of character that Victoria Beckham's
debut as fashion designer will be happening in a very quiet and private way. Instead of showing off her new upscale dress designs via the catwalk at New York Fashion Week she will instead be showing them by appointment only over a period of several days.

Why she's going with such a quiet launch isn't clear, although if the dresses are successful I'm sure we'll all get to see them soon enough. Expect price tags for the collection to be upwards of $1200.

The 20 Most Expensive Celebrity Weddings

How much would you spend on a wedding if money were no object? For most celebrities it isn't, and the result is wedding costs skyrocketing into the hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars. Forbes recently compiled a list of the 20 most expensive celebrity weddings, going back as far as 20 years. Whether paying for 50,000 exotic flowers or renting an entire island to escape the paparazzi, celebrities spare no expense when it comes to having exactly what they want. The top 5 spenders, in order, are:
Others on the list of 20 include David and Victoria Beckham, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, and of course Donald Trump and Melania Knauss.

Sadly, 40% of the couples on the list are now divorced (including obviously Brad and Jennifer above), so feel free to check out this list of the most expensive celebrity divorces -- a few made both lists!

Victoria Beckham To Launch Handbag, Shoe Lines

Style icon Victoria Beckham, headed to Los Angeles with superstar husband David Beckham, will soon have a line of accessories to complement her Rock and Republic jeans line. Posh has just signed a £5 million pound contract to design a range of handbags and shoes for release in the US. If they're anything like the bags that she favors now, her purses will be sleek and stylish, while sources say that "her shoes will be as sexy as Christian Louboutin's". She already has a successful handbag line in Tokyo.

Posh's Pricy Hair Extensions

What on Earth do you do when you are in Germany, trying to support your husband's soccer team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and you need to get your hair extensions redone? If you're Victoria Beckham, first you'll call your stylist at home in England, then you'll hop a $600 flight back and spend almost $3000 and 5 hours getting them put in. Apparently, Posh spends the $3K every three months getting her extensions redone, but she couldn't wait this time because some photographers noticed that she was developing a bald spot where the weave was pulling out her natural hair.

If only the solution to baldness was a plane flight and $3000 away for everyone.

Posh's Pre-World Cup Party and Auction

Victoria Beckham is hosting a huge auction at her pre-World Cup, "Full Length and Fabulous" party on May 21.   She has managed to get together over £2 million of luxury items for the sale, the profits from which will all be donated to Unicef. The items up for sale include a £1million diamond necklace from Asprey, his-and-her diamond-encrusted watches from Jacob & Co., valued at £600,000, and a £300,000 limited edition Bentley.

The bash will be hosted at the Beckhams home, dubbed Beckingham Palace. James Brown and Robbie Williams are performing for the 400 A-list guests, while top chef Gordon Ramsey will be doing the cooking. The guest list includes Prince Charles, Elton John, Liz Hurley, Tom Cruise and, of course, the rest of the English World Cup football team.

Hi-tech Luxury Car Theft

I was car shopping at the end of last year and looking at the new STS, and one of the features that really intrigued me was the "Keyless Go" (or whatever they call it).  The idea is that you carry around a key-like device (in the case of BMW, it's a credit card thing) that, when in proximity of the car, you can unlock and start it without having to do anything short of pressing a button.  Cool, right?  Yeah, until black hats use RFID sniffers and laptops with mobile transmitters to break the ECU's encryption use the convenient technology for their own deviant purposes.  It's been proposed that this is how Beckham's X5 was stolen, but at least his had a happy ending in the form of a free Audi.

Update:  Sister site Engadget has a similar post - linking to the same article - which talks about the connection between this technique and the Beckham's Bimmer SUV.

Beckham Gets Free Audi Q7

After having his armored BMW X5 stolen while eating lunch with his sons, David Beckham was offered a free Audi Q7 by Audi, which is the official sponsor of Beckham’s football team, Real Madrid. The car is his for the next year with only one caveat: Beckham has to drive it to training every day.

The Q7 is loaded with every extra that the company offers, making it worth around £70,000. It is a 4.2FSI in phantom black with pearl-effect paintwork and matching black leather interior. It is equipped with a car phone, flat screen television, Bose stereo, satellite navigation and a keyless entry and starting system. The first thing Beckham did with his new car was take it to the track – a challenging, professionally built track near the Real Madrid training grounds, where he tested its maneuverability and 154mph speed under the eyes of professional drivers.
