Concerto Major Sink

This isn't the most practical sink I've ever seen, after all the bowl is upside down, but it does have a hidden benefit. The Concerto Major sink's bowl is upside down. The benefit of this is that when the water hits the hammered copper dome it creates a waterfall with gentle sound effects. The sink has a very natural feel with the combination of mesquite hardwood and copper. It would work well in a spa bathroom for a very zen retreat.

Yin Yang Wading Pool Lavatory

I think bathrooms lend themselves to a sense of peace naturally, if only because of the flowing water and solitude, but this Yin Yang Wading Pool Lavatory from Kohler takes inspiration from seashells and the Chinese symbol for harmony to enhance that feeling even further. It's extremely simple, with a shallow basin that has a slightly raised center to encourage unique water patterns as it flows towards the offset drain. It's all designed to inspire elegance and a sense of balance, which I think it does very well.

HUE Chocolate Glass Cabinet Hardware

Although there are some beautiful choices when it comes to cabinet hardware, generally the the pulls on your doors and drawers don't attract much attention. These pulls from Spectra Decor are an exception. Handmade by artisans, the dimensional look is achieved by fusing together opaque and transparent layers of colored glass, which all rests beautifully on a satin pewter base. The HUE line of cabinet hardware is available in a variety of color combinations to match most any decor, but the chocolate brown and turquoise is my personal favorite. The quickest way to achieve a cabinet makeover is to install new hardware - and who wouldn't want to look at these each day? $38 to $78 each.

An all-too familiar theme when away from home is the stress over not only finding a bathroom when you need it, but then dealing with the usual grunge and general nastiness that always seems to be the case. It's a shame more places don't put more effort into their restrooms, but thankfully there are a few that do. And in a big way, too! The 'Cloud Cover' Shower Head

A shower is in many ways defined by its shower head. No matter what else a shower has going on, if the shower head fixture isn't up to par there's just something lacking. But everyone has their own ideas of what a "perfect shower" should be, so this Cloud Cover shower head from Rogerseller may or may not be the perfect thing your current shower is missing.

Measuring 282mm square (or about 11 inches) it installs flush with the ceiling so you'll have no more bulky fixtures sticking out. It sprays fine jets of water while maintaining low water consumption (for the environment!) and the result is a soothing spa-like shower experience.

If you're into invigorating showers with adjustable massaging water jets, then this probably isn't going to appeal to you. But if you want to imagine you're standing under a waterfall in the tropics, then this could be just the thing!

Ultimate Ladies' Room Luxury

If I had to guess, I'd say that 9 out of 10 times, if someone is looking for a restroom, he or she is not going for the atmosphere. On that 10th time, however, if you feel the need to look for luxury accommodations, look no further than the WC 1 super-loo. The luxury power room - a posher moniker than restroom - is 4,000-sq feet and will be located in central London, opposite Selfridges in Oxford Street, where a bouncer will stand guard and collect the £5 entry fee. There will be 19 cubicles, relaxing music and "considerate lighting," as well as marble-flooring, huge mirrors and a wide sale selection of toiletries, make-up and even aromatherapy products. The room will be well air-conditioned and the cubicles will be sanitized after every use.

The idea was from businesswoman Elaine Gennard, who plans to open several other luxury ladies' rooms in London, Leeds and Manchester. She is also considering the possibility of opening similar rooms for men.

Chiocciola Shower

The spiraling Chiocciola Shower is like a room unto itself, rather making up some small portion of a larger bathroom. The shower has a matte-finish acrylic screen and can be configured for access from the left or the right. Since this design would not look nearly as elegant if positioned up against a wall, consider it for an airy bathroom, preferably one where it can be sort of centrally located and highlighted with skylights. Price: $12,470.

As fun as the Soft Washbowl is, it doesn't hold a candle to the Cubetto Pedestal from Vitraform when it comes to elegance. The pedestal has both mouth-blown and cast glass components and is designed to match and support a variety of the sink basins offered by Vitraform. It is pictured with a clear glass one and a glass countertop, but Black, White Cobalt and custom colors are available. For a truly unique look, mounting some small lights behind the pedestal would give the whole installation a beautiful glow. Price: $9,800.
