Lux Staples: Our Picks for Summer Bangles

Clingy or tight jewelry can get uncomfortable in the hot summer months when sweating and feeling sticky is a daily occurrence, but it's also the time of year when accessories can look their best shining in the sun against tan skin. That's what makes bangle bracelets so perfect! They come in every size, shape, and color, and although they work any time of year I particularly love them come summer. Their loose-fitting style can go casual or glam, and they always look awesome with the season's breezy fabrics and beachy dresses. See some of our favorites in the gallery below and feel free to share yours in the comments!

Vivianna Torun Bangle Watches

Designed by Vivianna Torun for Georg Jensen these bangle watches are sleek, elegant, and classic. Intended to "free people from the slavery of time," Vivianna Torun made these watches extremely simple -- featuring a plain face with no numbers and simple hands. In addition the open bangle design symbolizes that "time should not bind us" while the mirrored face serves as a reminder that "life is now."

Very dramatic sentiment but it works in this case as the watches themselves are certainly dramatic. Available in gold, silver, and black stainless steel, the simplest designs sell for $2,200 while the limited edition version (that includes 173ct of pavé diamonds) is priced at $28,500.

Isharya Square Filigree Bangle

I love the unique antique look of this ornate over-sized bracelet. Made by the apparel & jewelry design duo called Isharya, the Square Filigree Bangle is an eye catching and stylish addition to any jewelry collection. Shimmering18kt gold vermeil is woven and twisted into intricate organic shapes, giving the delicate appearance of lace. This piece has a handcrafted feel that reminds me of India. Ippolita Turquoise Bangle

Spring 2008 is all about turquoise, every boutique I go in is full of the sea green stones. Past times showed us turquoise accented with silver (which I never liked), but combine it with today's gold influence and it takes on a fresh effervescent look. Italian born Jewelry designer, Ippolita brings you bangles that are dainty yet bold from her popular 18 kt gold line. This hand made, nine-stone bracelet looks amazing layered, but is also strong enough to stand alone, it retails for $2,950 and is available online.

Roberto Cavalli Mirror Bangle

If you are not keen on going crazy with vibrant and eye popping colors for your Fall wardrobe, try your hand for a more subtle yet bold alternative - accessories. They are your friend. They instantly update any outfit without costing an arm and a leg. Accessories are key items that set the tone to your outfit with little to no effort. The Roberto Cavalli Mirror Bangle is distinct and would add a touch of flashiness without being too outrageous. The multifaceted acrylic bangle is seen here in cacao, but is also available in vanilla and cherry. Bangle width is 1.5" with a wrist opening of 2.5" Price: $375.

Nail Bangle

I'm undecided on what style this Nail Bangle bracelet by Connie Verrusio fits into. Inspired by hardware and mechanical parts, and "the things that hold the world together," it appears as a large nail bent around in a loop to be worn as jewelry. I like it because it's simple and understated, but very unique at the same time. Not sure I have an outfit that would coordinate, though, and looking at that sharp point I just know I'd be getting it caught on and unraveling every sweater and long-sleeved shirt I own. Made of sterling silver, 9" around and 2.75" across. $150
