Bamford Custom Ferrari-Inspired Rolex Daytona

Last spring we told you about a super-cool custom Rolex Daytona from London-based Bamford & Sons. Now the bastion of top-drawer British style has come out with a new version of the classic sports watch, designed as an homage to vintage Ferraris with a red dial.

The new Daytona (right) is treated with a military grade, scratch proof PVD coating over the stainless steel case and bracelet, though it is not flat black like the previous Bamford model. Only 25 examples of the Ferrari red watch are being produced at a price of $23,000 each, available by special order from Bamford's London flagship in Sloane Square.

In addition to its special limited edition pieces, Bamford is now offering customers a bespoke dial color matching and customization service on classic Rolex models such as the Submariner, GMT, Explorer II, Sea Dweller and Milgauss.

Bamford Cashmere Throw

Winter is fast approaching and although wool, fleece and goose down are all toasty options for keeping warm there is nothing as comforting and luxurious in cold weather as cashmere. Sure I have a cashmere dress coat, sweaters and scarves but wouldn't it be lovely to snuggle beneath a cashmere throw in a cozy corner of your home? Bamford's handwoven blanket made of Altai cashmere from the borders of Mongolia and Tibet is the perfect gift for anyone on your list this holiday season. This pricey throw is hand-dyed using pomegranate, juniper and aloe-vera keeping the fiber's natural essence intact. Currently you can choose between a stone color with finished edge, cream color with tassled edge, or cream and brown weave with tassled edge for £950 (approximately $1,700).

LVMH Exploring Acquisition of Bamford

Bastion of top-drawer British style Bamford & Sons is looking for an investor, and luxury goods behemoth LVMH, owner of Louis Vuitton, might buy in. "We've come to the end of phase one, and we need a partner with more expertise in other markets," Lady Carole Bamford, who founded the brand in 2004, tells the Financial Times. She has engaged the Blackstone Group to help the firm, which has experienced 50-55 per cent growth per year for the past two years, field investment offers.

LVMH and rival luxury conglomerate Richemont are in the running, the paper reports. We have previously written about Bamford's custom $30,000 black PVD Rolex Daytona and its fall line of cashmere shooting jackets and such made from sustainable materials. They currently have men's, women's, accessories and bath & body collections, carried at their own retail stores (above) and the likes of Barneys. Bamford bills itself as "the first mainstream luxury brand to make an identity out of its organic stance."

The Classicist: Bamford's New Fall Favorites

Bamford & Sons, the bastion of top-drawer British style whose killer custom Rolex we wrote about a couple months back, has come out with a stunning fall collection that actually has us looking forward to the end of summer. In addition, the company is launching a new Bath & Body line to add to their already impressive lineup of clothing and accessories, which includes everything from cashmere blankets to limited edition sterling silver iPods.

Bamford's sporty classics with a bit of a natty twist - check out this cashmere shooting jacket paired with a purple cashmere sweater - are known for being extremely comfortable and well made. The company's motto is "A man's life should determine his clothes; not vice versa." Their craftsmanship and blend of "innovation and heritage" calls to mind a classic British sportscar with beautiful burled walnut inlays, chrome gauges and hand-stitched leather seats.

For fall, traditional items such as this shooting jacket, the classic pea coat, tweeds and trench coats are given a lighter, more contemporary feel. Organic, sustainable and natural fibers are used, never synthetics. It may surprise you to know that not only is this shooting jacket water-resistant, but it is treated with a natural moisture repellent derived from the lotus flower rather than any nasty chemicals. If you bought one of those beautiful $100,000 Asprey shotguns we wrote about, this is the jacket to do it justice.

Bamford & Sons Limited Edition Rolex

Bastion of top-drawer British style Bamford & Sons has just come out with their own take on the classic and much-coveted Rolex Daytona Cosmograph, popularized by Paul Newman back in his racecar driving days. The London-based Bamford design team sourced 25 vintage Daytonas -- no mean feat in itself -- then customized them with an aqua blue face and a black PVD coating (a low-friction finish used by the military) over the stainless steel.

Bamford's wares are available Stateside from Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, but this limited edition timepiece can only be ordered direct from the company's own UK store (they'll ship worldwide); it costs £14,995, or just over $30,000. Bamford previously customized a cool Rolex Submariner on a black leather strap, but the Daytona is in a class by itself.
