Rosarito Beach Hotel Opens New Tower

I've seen a ton of condo-hotel projects in Cabo and even a few in Ensenada, now the next stop on the Baja Peninsula to get a facelift is the Rosarito Beach Hotel. The hotel has a long history. It started out as a 12-room hunting lodge in 1925 and played host to many celebrities including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Wells, Rita Hayworth and John Wayne. Now the hotel will become a 500 room and suite resort with an official grand opening on August 2. They are offering a Sunday through Thursday special room rate of just $79.

New to the compound is the oceanfront 17-story, 271-suite Pacifico Tower. The new tower offers an infinity pool and a rooftop restaurant. The Pacifico Tower has fully furnished suites that are offered for sale and can be placed in the hotel rental program. One bedroom condos start at $190,000, two-bedroom condos start at $362,000 and two-story, three-bedroom penthouses start at $599,000.

Quivara, More Major Development Planned for Los Cabos

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Real Estate Developments

In the last five years we've seen the Los Cabos area of the Baja peninsula in Mexico go from spring break headquarters to a luxury hot spot. The newest entry into this crowded market is Quivira Los Cabos, $1.5 billion luxury residential resort community launching this spring. Quivira is 1,850-acres of property that includes three miles of beaches. Qivara will be home to a Ritz-Carlton resort on the ocean as well as Ritz-branded private residences. There will also be two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses on the property and it is already home to the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Holistic Retreat and Spa, a highly-rated destination spa. Estates, villas, condos and home sites will all be offered for sale.

Trump Heads To Baja

Filed under: Estates, Luxury Travel & Hotels

Just call him Señor Trump. Donald Trump and Irongate are building a large new resort, Trump Ocean Resort Baja Mexico, a co-tel project located in North Baja, Mexico just 20 minutes from San Diego. It's big news because it represents the first condo-hotel project to hit the Baja peninsula. The large hotel will include the type of luxuries usually found in Cabo San Lucas but often in short supply further up the peninsula such as owner's concierge, a lobby bar & lounge, a pool house bar & café and a fine dining restaurant, an infinity edge resort pool, and lap and family pools, a spa, a fitness center, tennis courts, and walking trails. Prices for the studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences will start in the mid-$200s and construction is scheduled to begin in late 2006 with the completion of the first tower scheduled for late 2008. It's not the first upscale resort we have seen planned for the area but once the Trump rolls into town an area officially loses its chance to remain relatively undiscovered.
