Badgley Mischka Fall 2011 at NY Fashion Week

The Badgley Mischka Fall 2011 Collection fashion show during NY Fashion Week was inspired by old Hollywood glamour, according to its designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka.

Beautiful gowns were presented with a dramatic backdrop. On a large screen behind the runway, was a fog-filled urban scene that set the mood, as models dressed in gowns made of crepe de chine, chiffon, taffeta and tulle made their way down the runway (see video below).

There were magnificient gowns, including one made of crepe de chine in magenta (seen above) that one might expect to see on the Academy Awards' red carpet. A gold/argent lame and chiffon gown was striking as was a black crushed velvet gown (both from the Couture Collection). There were several pieces presented from the lower price point Mark+James line, including a black matte jersey and tulle dress, black stretch tuxedo twill skirt and pants, and a silver/black gauze lame trench coat, among others.

Rumer Willis Is The New Face of Badgley Mischka

Rumer Willis , the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is the latest face of the Badgley Mischka brand. The photo above shows a recent fitting by designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka in Malibu, California as she prepared for their spring marketing campaign.

"We adore Rumer, she is glamorous, youthful and fun," Badgley and Mischka said in a statement. "Rumer captures the spirit of all of our spring collections, especially our newly launched Mark + James collection." The Mark + James line which was launched last year takes its name from the designers' first names and is a secondary line that is modern and affordable. Reports say that Rumer Willis will model everything from couture evening wear to footwear and swimwear. Past celebrity models for Badgley Mischka have includes Teri Hatcher and the Olsen Twins.

Inside Design Duo Badgley Mischka's Kentucky Equestrian Estate

This month's issue of Elle Decor offers an inside look at famed fashion design duo Badgley Mischka's horsey estate in Kentucky, embodying a perfect example of haute equestrian style. Three years ago the New York-based designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, whose fans include the Olsen Twins, Lauren Hutton and Brooke Shields, traded in their house in the Hamptons for a 1920s estate in Kentucky horse country near Lexington. They renovated the limestone-and-clapboard Dutch Colonial Revival house (above) on 15 rolling acres and added top-class equestrian facilities with an interior design scheme to match, naming it Moon Stone Farm. A screened porch along one side was totally remodeled, a downstairs bedroom suite was converted into a chic library, and the kitchen and baths were redone in sleek marble. Who would know better than fashion designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka about what scent to wear with an evening gown? I'm always drawn to bucket bags and so I'm not surprised that I like this Platinum Label Erin Drawstring Bag by Badgley Mischka. Designed for the woman who has lots to carry but gets frustrated when it all jumbles around together in the bottom of a hobo (and then you can't find it when you need it) this bag has four big pockets around the outside in addition to the roomy interior. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting of the illustrious Mark Badgley and James Mischka at the launch of their fabulous new fragrance, Badgley Mischka Couture.

"The top notes are sexy, with pear nectar, blackberry, and dark plum. The heart of the fragrance is supremely feminine, achieved with voluptuous gardenia and hints of jasmine and violet. All this floats over a creamy wood and musk base."

One of the most exciting things about this fragrance is their chic little tube of gel -- Badgley Mischka Couture Parfum Elixir. The tube, with its lush velvet bag, is their take on the traditional portable roll-on fragrance, which they feel is too much "like deodorant." Rubbing in this gel is sensual way to apply fragrance, and as it's just slightly larger than a tube of lip gloss (a modest .5 fl. oz.), it's easy to toss into even a clutch purse -- or your carry-on plastic bag for the airport.

The Badgley Mischka Platinum Label Kara Drawstring Tote is a beautiful bag with a number of exquisite details.

The cream colored leather is accentuated by contrasting, wide stitching and yellow gold tone hardware. We love the dramatic tassels, laced through porthole-like loopholes which cinch the tote into a casually gathered shape.

This is an excellent bag to pair with denim, and at 14.5"W x 13"H x 7.75"D it's large enough for a full Saturday of brunch, shopping, and even sight-seeing abroad. Badgley Mischka Fine Jewelry Line

Fashion design duo Badgley Mischka has come up with jewelry for both the high and low ends of the fashion market. Last year they collaborated with the Renk sisters, designers of six-year-old fashion jewelry line Sequin, to create vintage-inspired costume jewelry. Last week during New York Fashion Week they showed off their high-end fashion collection along with jewelry that is the start of a fine jewelry line with Zalemark. The fashion line included luxurious suits, fur vests and long flowing evening gowns in jewel tones. Steven Zale the jewelry designer selected an ruby cabochon oval drop necklace in gold and diamonds to match with a black silk shirt-waisted dress with boots. Zalemark will work closely with the design team to develop, create and manufacture a two-tier couture line and a bridal line of fine jewelry under the Badgley Mischka label. Couture sets will include one-of-a-kind fashion pieces and a collection to compliment Badgley Mischka ready-to-wear and Badgley Mischka Bridal will feature unique semi-mounts, some rings complete with center stone, crafted with top quality G/VS stones and Belgium ideal cuts. Zalemark plans to debut the full collection at the Couture Show in Las Vegas, May 2008 and it will be in stores this fall.

The Olsen Twins Model For Badgley Mischka

In the latest mix of celebrity and high-end fashion, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are modeling for Badgley Mischka. The tiny twins will appear in the ad campaign which will be in April fashion magazines. Gilles Bensimon shot the girls in their fancy glam garb in the presidential suite of the St. Regis hotel. WWD reports that the girls are also fans of the line and each has ordered six dresses from the designers. The girls look lovely but posed as they are in this hotel hallway they remind me of the ghost twins from the Shining. Eerie.
