The Most Functional & Stylish Backpacks

Backpacks
are the go-to, functional and easy to wear bags. It's a no brainer. They offer ample space with plenty of compartments and pockets for organization. Backpacks distribute the weight of what you're carrying over both shoulders as opposed to ending up with one painful shoulder or an elbow.

Unfortunately, they are not the most fashion forward accessory to wear, especially if you are a lover of luxurious and head-turning handbags. So what is a woman to do when you need a practical bag that still exudes your sense of style? How about starting your search with our collection of eye catching backpacks that maintain their functionality. This is far from a complete list, but it serves as inspiration in your search.

First up is Prada's Nylon Backpack ($695) - a favorite of many for a multitude of reasons. It balances functionality and style so seamlessly that it has evolved into a classic and timeless accessory. Made with nylon, it lacks a bulkiness that many backpacks posses, it's easy to keep clean and lightweight. The interior is roomy and the exterior pockets allow for smaller items to be safe and easily accessible. In addition to a front flap closure with a magnetic and buckle closure, there's a drawstring closure for added security. Measurements: 12 1/2"H x 11 3/4"W x 6"D.

Cobra Collection Luxury Tech Bags From Booq

Filed under: Gadgets, Handbags, Men's Style

I am a big fan of Booq products. The company makes some of the best laptop bags and backpacks that I know of. At the same time, the design of their products is usually pretty "techie." You'll often find bright splashes of orange and futuristic surface designs. What is the low-key design lover to do when they want a quality, ergonomically designed bag for your laptop computer and gadget accessories? Well Booq has a new collection of high-end more sophisticated looking laptop bags made with the durability and core philosophy that people have come to expect from the brand. I previously reviewed their Boa Flow M Backpack here.

The new Cobra collection is comprised of a few products of different sizes. Each are shoulder or messenger style bags made from 1680 denier ballistic nylon in black. The metal hardware is done in a gunmetal finish. While the ballistic nylon is coated with a water-resistant material on the outside, the inside of the bags are lined with Nappa leather. The bags are design to look good, be durable for whatever you put them through, hold all your gear, and be comfortable in the process.

Booq will initially offer several Cobra products including the Cobra Case L. Cobra Brief L, Cobra Brief L, Cobra Slim L, and Cobra Courier XS. Prices are between $145 - $345. I am waiting eagerly in the hopes that they release a Cobra backpack soon. You can view and buy the full Cobra collection at Booq here.

Booq Boa Flow M Laptop Backpack Review

I will admit it, most gadget carriers stink. This includes the legion of available backpacks meant to hold your laptop computers and other gear. Why are they bad? Well, aside from being really poor in quality, they are ergonomically and logically flawed most of the time. I'd love to think that every item meant to be worn or carried around goes through a series of ergonomics tests to ensure they work well and are comfortable. How false this is. Most of them make the problems they intend to cure even worse. A few examples? How about laptop bags with insufficient padding so that your computer is susceptible to damage when you put it on the floor. Or straps and a weight distribution that hurts your back unnecessarily. This basically includes ALL messenger bags meant to hold anything but light weight documents. So I've painted a pretty dismal picture. Is there hope? Of course. Which leads me to a my own personal concept of luxury backpacks - that being ones that look good, work well, and are comfortable. Leave the fine leather and luxury brand names to purses and wallets.

Brands like Booq do their homework before releasing items into the market. It isn't that their products are perfect, but rather that when you uses them you genuinely feel that thought was put into their design and function. I've owned an assortment of their products, and am continually impressed by the experience. My newest Booq is the Boa Flow laptop computer carrying backpack. It comes in a few sizes and I have the "M' (medium model). There is a larger model that will fit more stuff, but is mostly meant to house large sized (17 inch screen and a bit above) notebook computers. One this I really like about the Booq Boa Flow is that it is able to hold other stuff as well. Booq has designed in a bunch of other large and small pockets and cargo areas. Some of these are quite dedicated. Such as for cables, water bottles, umbrellas, cameras, and other items. Despite the medium size, I can carry my 15 inch notebook computer, a host of cables, some pens and other stationary, an iPad, a few magazines, umbrella, and some documents - all with comfortable room for more. The Boa Flow is even an improvement organizationally from their previous Python model. Materials wise Booq only uses fine ballistic nylon, sturdy zippers, and other quality materials. The designs of their stuff looks really cool as well. Not too dorky, but certainly futuristic enough to impress people. Plus, that black with orange trim is a great looking motif. Some of the materials are a bit scratchy, but don't really affect the wearing experience that much. This includes the orange mesh material on the back part of the bag. Again, that doesn't affect you unless you are wearing the bag without a shirt on.

Cole Haan FLX Collection

cole haan flx collection
Just in time for spring and summer, Cole Haan has recently introduced their Cole Haan FLX Collection, which is designed to infuse comfort and durability with well styled accessories for men and women. All of the Cole Haan FLX shoes have NIKE AIR Technology in the heel for added cushioning and comfort as well as a lightweight and flexible rubber sole allowing you to walk in a more natural motion. Their line of women's shoes offers sandals, flats and sneakers. Some of our favorites are the Cole Haan FLX Air Vernonia ($128), which is a gladiator sandal that's available in black and silver metallic and the Cole Haan FLX Air Bandon ($108), a simple round toe ballet flat. Both styles are casual, super comfortable and versatile – making it ideal as your I-wear-them-everyday-and-still-look-great shoe.

Loopbag Vanguard Laptop Computer Backpack Review

I used to wonder why my older laptop backpack was so large. All I had in it was a computer, some cables, and an accessory or two - I looked like a trail hiker walking around with it. I was recently presented with the Loopbag Vanguard laptop backpack and I realized I can finally carry around my computer essentials without looking silly - In fact the backpack looks pretty good. Aside from this backpack in several colors, Loopbag makes a range of bags, packs, and other portable computer essentials in a fun range of colors that will remind you of Timbuk2 and Crumpler.

The namesake of the backpack makes sense when looking at it head on as you see two zippered areas that form two loops. It makes for a hip, modern look, and one that is simple enough to have broad appeal. I get the impression that the backpack was designed based upon a functional concept as opposed to just a look, and the system is pretty clever. It gives you multiple access points so things inside are easier to find, which is good because you don't have to unload everything to get to things buried inside, as you can access the main compartment from the front or rear on both sides. Inside the back is a whole range of little pouches - mostly zippered - for any manner of small or large items. I enjoy frequently finding new areas to store little items on the Loopbag such as a small pouch for cash or keys located on one of the shoulder straps.

Just Cavalli Metallic Nylon Backpack, Handbag of the Day

Backpacks are so handy but it can be really hard to find one that doesn't look too "schoolish." This Metallic Nylon Backpack by Just Cavalli fits the bill for me, though, with its casual floppy nature combined with a healthy dose of trendy metallic style and "flash" appeal. Strikes me as a great bag for the girl who likes to wear stiletto heels with her blue jeans. Made of woven nylon with snakeskin- printed leather trim, it has pockets galore (obviously, it is a backpack after all), a snakeskin-printed textile lining, and a magnetic closure at the top. $750

Ducati Luggage

Like Ducati bikes? Now you can get the luggage to match. The motorcycle maker has become the latest brand to license their name to a luggage line. The Ducati Collection by Tumi is a line of eight red and black bags with the Ducati logo. The line ranges from a $35 key ring to the $435 carry-on shown here. Love the red and black and the rounded handle but is the big white logo on the side really necessary?
