Cast Your Memories in Precious Metal

Whether you're looking to preserve the memory of your new baby's tiny foot or your favorite pet's scruffy paw, Wrightson & Platt can help you lock those precious moments and keep them forever in the form of sculpture or jewelry. They use a fast setting jelly to take a cast of the desired body part (they can capture everything from a wiggly baby's fingers to a woman's pregnant belly) and then put that cast through what can only be described as a fascinating process to create the final product in your choice of materials including bronze, glass, platinum, and sterling silver. Prices start, for the smallest pieces like pins and cufflinks, at about £1200 and go up from there.

Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bags

As I get closer to my due date (mid July, yipeeee!) I realize what a monumental role the diaper bag plays in the whole baby paraphernalia ordeal. Women carry their diaper bags like they would a purse, so obviously a certain status symbol situation occurs, I'm starting to notice it everywhere I go, moms casually scoping out the other moms diaper bag. As far as brands go the must have diaper bag du jour is without a doubt, say it with me ladies.... Petunia Pickle Bottom. If you live in Orange County or LA you are probably sick of seeing the signature tweed tapestry-esque bags, every mom has one. They cost considerably more than the competitors bags, the most useful and desirable ones are around $350. The problem I'm noticing is that you can't really have just one! I was browsing the collection a few days ago and the color combinations are so specific (think pinks and browns...or blacks and reds) that even if I could afford one I would probably go into consumer panic and want either 2, or none at all! See for yourself why these are the must have diaper bags of the decade...petuniapicklebottom.com!

Fendi Baby Carrier

Tote your tot in style with this impressive Fendi print baby carrier! Made by Aprica (a high end stroller company), and detailed with black leather plus the signature "F" logo pattern, it's usable four different ways including the convenient piggy back style. I like that it's masculine looking enough to be daddy friendly. Available on eluxury.com, for a pretty reasonable $325, this would make a very nice luxury shower gift!

Leopard Print Highchair

Tired of that unsightly plastic highchair that's a constant eye sore around your home? Say hello to the stunning leopard print, solid wood high chair. The solid Mora is hand carved with a shapely oval back and stunning embellishments on the four sturdy legs. The leopard area is high end vinyl that resembles leather. Vinyl allows for quick cleanup and is mildew and stain proof. A completely detachable tray allows for safe and easy loading and unloading. And a comfortable yet secure three point locking safety belt, guarantees that wiggly little bodies won't slide out! Safe, comfortable and easy on the eyes, a must have for trendy, in the know parents! Custom made when you order it, on poshtots.com for $885.

Lacoste Baby Stroller

Through collaborations with the likes of Kate Spade and Lulu Guinness, Maclaren has been rolling out fashionable baby carriages for some time. Now they have added a little French preppy chic to the line through a partnership with Lacoste. The special-edition Lacoste by Maclaren Buggy sports the classic green crocodile logo and all the features you expect in a Maclaren stroller - lightweight design, one-hand fold, reclining seat positions, and front/rear suspension. And because you can't have baby riding in around in just any old clothes, the stroller comes complete with a Lacoste ensemble consisting of a cotton polo shirt and pique sun hat just for baby. The stroller sells for $400 and can be purchased online at Maclaren or Lacoste, as well as at the Fifth Avenue Lacoste boutique.

Do Babies Need Leather Seats?

If mommy and daddy cruise around town in posh leather seats, why shouldn't their tot. After all, are Zwieback crumbs and formula spills harder to clean up than latte splashes and Zone Bar bits? We've covered some posh strollers in the past but the latest from Maclaren may dust them all. It has embroidered leather seats, carbon fiber body work, sleek alloy wheels, a gold lacquer frame and a design that is doesn't seem at first glance, very toddler friendly. The Daily Mail reports that the baby buggy shown here sells for a cool £2,000 is the world's most expensive pushchair and there are only 20 available worldwide. Each one is a limited edition with a numbered plaque and has a cell phone pouch that has a removable gold M pin that can be used as a brooch.

Xplory Complete Stroller

The other day I noticed a woman with a stroller so large that she couldn't fit it through the door of the coffee shop she was trying to enter and needed someone to go in and purchase her latte for her. Perhaps she was unaware that there are far more fashionable strollers that are not the size of midrange SUVs. The Xplory Complete is one such stroller. Its award winning design features an adjustable seat that keeps children higher up off the ground, giving them a better view and giving parents easier access without back strain. It can also be used as a high chair. The seat can be adjusted to sit upright for older children or to lie down, so babies can rest comfortably. A number of accessories are available, including a baby bag (included), car seat adaptor, changing bag, mosquito net and a parasol. Price: $950.

Gold The New Trend In Luxe Baby Gear?

Is gold the new color for baby gear? Recently a couple of special edition gold-themed baby items caught my eye. Gwen Stefeani was recently spotted using a very shiny gold stroller made by British brand Mamas and Papas. There are just ten of the Ziko Gold strollers available and they sell for around $860 at Selfridges. Also at Selfridges you can pick up a gold papoose designed by Bill Amberg. The sheepskin papoose sells for around $1,895 and is also available in more traditional baby colors like pink and blue.

GenSelect

While some doctors can help parents-to-be select the gender of their as-yet-unborn child, should they be interested in such a decision, it is an expensive and time-consuming procedure. For those interested in a less involved procedure, GenSelect makes kits that are supposed to help influence the gender of a baby, one for boys and one for girls. The kit claims to be 96% effective in "pre-conception sex selection" and comes with a money back guarantee. It's an interesting concept and, while less creepy than having a doctor actually choose a particular embryo, the FDA-approved product is bound to raise some eyebrows. A 3-month kit will set you back $439.

Gwen Stefani's Gucci Baby Sling

Gwen Stefani opted for a more traditional baby sling instead of the ones that look like they're made from scrap fabric that so many celebrities have been opting for lately. The Gucci Baby Carrier that Kingston is tucked into has adjustable straps and is covered in beige logo fabric with a brown leather trim. Gwen is a woman who has always had a keen eye for style, and it's nice to see that motherhood won't be slowing her down in that department. Price: $760.

More Celeb Baby Gear

Funkie baby reversible bibs,
$18-$21Celebrities may have gotten some great baby couture at the Golden Globes, but they are also picking some out for themselves, since not too many celebrities can resist spending on their kids. A few other celebrity favorites, from Child.com, include Inky Dink Tees -- which are well liked by moms who include Angelina Jolie and Kelly Ripa -- and City Threads. For bibs, Tess and Winter and Funkie Baby are loved by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Victoria and David Beckham. Bloomers Baby Diaper Cakes are remarkably popular as baby shower gifts and have been served to half of the A-list.

The nicest baby gifts are the ones for moms. Jill Alberts Jewelry makes one of a kind lockets so stars like Debra Messing, Julia Roberts and Kyra Sedgwick can keep their true loves close to their hearts. Designs can start as low as $650, but can range to more than double that price.

Baby Couture from the Boom Boom Room

At this year’s Golden Globes, the stars weren’t the only ones walking away with bags full of free goodies from designers. Actually, they were – but not everything in the bags was for themselves. In addition to more adult-sized offerings, vendors set up a Boom Boom Room that featured lots of stuff for kids and babies.

Crib Rock Couture has updated nursery rhyme characters on fashionable logo-tees. The tees are reminiscent of vintage rocker tee’s and are styled after classic tour shirts, but with the gentler edge that only Miss Muffet can provide. The new 3 Blind Mice tee, from the “Carving Knife Tour” is especially cute at $33.

Diapees & Wipees makes fashionable bags for toting around the most important baby tools, diapers and wipes, without lugging a carrier that looks like a picnic cooler. The bags come in bright, vibrant colors and retail for $14.99.

Snugglebug Baby makes jeweled pacifier clips, which keep fashion-forward parents from losing their baby’s favorite object and lets baby start collecting bling early in life. The clips are $25.00 and come in boys and girls styles, like the Swarovski clip pictured here, with additional customization available.
