The New DYNASTY Collection from Azature

Azature Dynasty
Azature, the world-renowned jewelry designer and "Black Diamond King" we had the pleasure of interviewing last January (click here for our Exclusive Interview with Azature), has released a very exciting new collection: The DYNASTY Collection.

The edgy, opulent pieces have a 1980s feel -- decadent, yet youthful and vibrant. Azature's signature boldly industrial, gothic look is well evidenced in the use of sculpted wire and heavy hardware.

Statement jewelry is big right now, as we saw both at Fashion Week and the Oscars, and Azature doesn't disappoint. DYNASTY features baubles encased in hot-pink mesh, matte curb chain, and handcrafted, woven metal beads.

Is a recession the time for this kind of extravagance? "I think everyone needs a little bit of light in these tough times," says Azature, whose jewelry has been worn by Rihanna, Beyonce, Fergie, and Charlize Theron.

And where did the collection get its name? The Aaron Spelling TV show, of course!

AzatureWho is the man behind "neo-fierce" luxury jewelry line AZATURE, famous for black diamonds and gothic, industrial pieces for men and women? Azature. It's actually his name.

We've been covering Azature's fantastic designs for a long time. He's recently had a swell of success, with both Rihanna and Beyonce wearing his glittering, substantial pieces.

In this interview, we talk to Azature about his journey as a designer of fine jewelry, Madonna, and more. The items featured are some of Azature's personal favorites, as well as photos of Rihanna in his A.Z. Linked Necklace.

Azature's New Line A.Z.

$150 pop tab from Azature's new line A.Z.
Azature is in N.Y. this week introducing his new line, A.Z.

Azature's pieces, like this ring we covered a few months ago, are made from a platinum-sterling alloy and adorned with black and white diamonds. There are eight rings, eight necklaces, eight pairs of earrings, and six bangles featured in the new A.Z. collection, and they are crafted with 18K gold white-gold plating and nickel details. The above necklace is one such piece, and rings in at $150.00. Now that's a fancy pop tab! Very daring, Azature.

Into that? Click here for the Martin Margiela can tab necklace we recently reviewed.

You can count on Azature for chic, industrial designs, and A.Z. is no exception. The rings and bangles are bolt-like, and even the charm necklaces are multi-chained and made with heavy nickel.

The New York Daily News has called Azature one of "fashion's soon-to-be stars," and we couldn't agree more.

Azature Ring

When I was a kid and I used to help my stepfather on home improvement projects I often ended up trying on copper tubing and six-sixded nuts on as rings. Azature, a young and brooding jewelry designer, has taken that six-sided design and turned it into a fabulous piece of jewelry. The Hollywood-based designer has an abiding love for black, using black diamonds and a sterling-platinum alloy to craft high-end bangles, necklaces and rings for both men and women. Many of his designs have an industrial rough-edged look without being hopelessly gimmicky. They are powerful.

The piece shown above features five carats of Russian black diamonds and sells for $12,900.
