Avalon Bed

The Avalon Bed is made from poplar and fir and is covered in a fire-retardant foam. On top of the foam is a removable fabric cover, which can be made in colors different from the one pictured, if you choose. The bed has a tubular stainless steel base, which is only minimally visible, despite the glossy satin finish of the metal, and so it appears to almost be floating above the floor. The mattress is actually sold separately, which is just as well because the green-on-green look is one that would be difficult to pull off in most bedrooms. Price: £2,286 ($4,330).
