Aston Martin Delivers the First One-77 to Monaco

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

It's here at long last: the first Aston Martin One-77 has officially been delivered to its first customer, officially catapulting Aston Martin into the upper stratosphere of the supercar arena.

The first of 77 examples to be produced, this black example was delivered to Monaco, no less, at Monte Carlo's famous Hotel de Paris. The last example is set to leave the factory by the end of the year.

There are reportedly still a few places left on the list, but to get one you'll need to fork over an additional $240,000 on top of the initial $1.8 million sticker price for a grand total of $2.04 million. That's a lot of cash for one car, but a lot of car it is indeed.

Aston Martin One-77 Selling Like Hotcakes... Cygnet Along With It

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

It wasn't so long ago that spending seven figures on a new car was entirely unfathomable. Six figures, sure. But seven? That was before the likes of the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Reventon came along and shattered our notions of how much a car could possibly be worth. And then came the Aston Martin One-77.

Crafted out of aluminum and carbon fiber and with a 750-horsepower V12 nestled underhood, the exclusive One-77 commands a commanding $1.87 million apiece. You might think that, at such a high price, Aston would have trouble selling the entire allotment of 77 examples, but you'd be mistaken. Reports indicate that 60 of them have already been sold, leaving only 17 still up for grabs as we go to press.

Perhaps just as intriguing among all this conspicuous consumption is another trend: according to reports, many of the buyers ponying up the $1.87 million for the One-77 are also placing orders for the Cygnet, the tiny city car which Aston Martin is building on the basis of the Toyota iQ. After all, you're not going to be driving your supercar into the city every day, now are you?

New $9.6 Million Aston Martin is World's Most Expensive Car

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Wealth

For a whopping $9.6 million you can now order the world's most expensive limited edition supercar, the Aston Martin Super Sport. Only eight examples will be built, each in a different color including red, yellow, silver, black and sky blue, for collectors worldwide. The incredibly costly vehicles are being offered by Star Electric Cars France (SECF), designer of coachbuilt specialty vehicles including Rolls-Royce golf carts and the like for rock stars, royalty and people with way too much money. A sort of souped-up version of the Aston Martin One-77, yet far more exclusive, the mid-engine engined hypercar is powered by a twin-turbo 5.4 liter V8 engine producing around 900 hp. It features carbon fiber bodywork, gullwing doors, carbon ceramic brakes and a leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber interior. While it may just seem like a hyperbolic concept, rest assured that if your check for $9.6 million clears SECF will actually build you one of these things.

Aston Martin Could Offer Clients Endless Customization

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Once upon a time, it was easy enough for a sportscar-maker like Ferrari or Aston Martin to offer unique variants with special bodywork and features for its most discerning customers. But modern production techniques have made that considerably more difficult. Aston Martin, however, is learning the process again.

From the arduous process of developing its seven-figure One-77 supercar, Aston has reportedly gained the competence it needs to offer paying (make that dearly paying) clients a virtually endless array of possibilities. We like the sound of that.

Filthy Rich Arab Buys TEN Aston Martin One-77s

According to a new report a single and obviously incredibly rich buyer in the Middle East has shelled out for not one but ten Aston-Martin One-77 supercars which cost $1.7 million apiece. The unnamed buyer - we're guessing oil sheik - apparently paid a premium to get the cars sent to his desert demesne, bringing the total cost of the cars to $23 million. He is reportedly planning to give one to each member of his immediate family. Sounds like a pretty popular guy. Aston Martin unveiled the car last year and announced that only 77 examples would be made. With a low weight carbon fiber monocoque, the sexy beast's 7.3-liter V12 engine with 750 hp helps it hit a top speed of 220 mph.

The Aston Martin One-77 has Overdosed on Low and Mean

While traipsing around Carmel during Pebble Beach weekend, we found the Aston Martin One-77 tucked between hospitality tables like a manta ray brooding within a coral reef -- as if it were grudgingly consenting to being looked at. With a roofline that sits about four inches lower than a DBS, the minimal height, exceptional girth, and slew of edged features combine to create one angry car.

Yet it does possess its moments of soft beauty: the engine bay is a case of stupendous craftsmanship; we'd use the mirror-finish twin-spoke wheels to do our shaving every morning; the carbon fiber rear suspension weaving its way through leather-trimmed panels is nothing short of delicious. Inside, the car is minutely detailed, with black leather and white cross-stitching slathering nearly every deeply arced surface -- at least, all those that aren't carbon fiber and aluminum. Everything other than the white-backed center console gauges elicits a slightly intoxicated "Yes" from our hearts. That's the velvet glove side of the One-77.

Its iron fist is much bigger, and it wears brass knuckles in the form of a 7.3-liter V12. Best of all, Even better: there's still time to get one. You can place a call to Aston Martin for an order, after which they'll ask you to wire $1.8 million. Or you can simply enjoy the beast in the gallery below.

It's been nearly nine months since Aston Martin first starting taunting performance car aficionados with teaser shots of its upcoming One-77 supercar. Finally, the first completed vehicle has made its way out of the marque's factory in the United Kingdom and over to the shores of Lake Como in Italy where it took part in the Concorso d'Eleganza. Apparently, it was rather well received.

Aston's brutally-styled beauty took home the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, garnering 30% of the total number of votes cast at the event in the process. Not only were the event's attendees the first to gaze upon a fully assembled One-77, they also got to hear it run for the first time ever.

Here's the best news: thanks to the wonders of YouTube, we all get the chance to hear the baritone grumble of Aston's carbon-ensconced 7.3L V12 engine. Interested? Click on past the break for the video.

Geneva 2009: Aston Martin One-77 revealed!

Aston Martin fully revealed its ultimate car, the One-77 today at the Geneva Motor Show. Aston Martins have always been special but the One-77 takes it to a whole new level. The 6.0L V12 found in more "pedestrian" Astons has been expanded out to 7.3L and the output is now in excess of 700 hp with a top speed in excess of 200 mph. Apparently the only thing not in excess for this very special sports car is the production volumes. Only 77 examples will be built with a price tag well in excess of $1 million! No word yet on whether Daniel Craig will have one available for the next James Bond outing.
