Hublot Big Bang Leopard Watch for Your Wild Side

Hublot's main intent behind their women's pieces is to shock and tantalize. I find it fascinating that they employ a very unique approach to making women's watches versus men's watches, as many brands have women's watches that are just mini versions of their men's collection.

One of Hublot's more noteworthy lady's line piece for 2011 is the Big Bang Leopard -- a new look for the 41mm Big Bang that is influenced by Hublot's appreciation of leopard print skin designs that exist in elsewhere in pieces such as one particular Rolex Daytona from a few years ago with a similar leopard print dial and strap. Hublot takes the concept and applies it to their 41mm wide Big Bang collection watches. If are drawn to the look, the piece is actually rather cohesive. The strap is actually leopard print denim with a matching dial style. On the dial are 18k red gold hands and yellow diamond hour markers.

The case itself is 41mm wide and done in 18k red gold. A large size for many women, but small for many Hublot timepieces. Around the bezel are jewels means to compliments the leopard print. There you'll find a mix of smoked quartz, andalusites, and citrine stones -- all in baguette cuts. Inside the watch is an HUB4300 automatic chronograph movement. No doubt the piece is highly polarizing, but you know the right person will be able to pull off the look wildly.

Diane von Furstensberg Ginsy Skirt

If the spring sunshine has you itching to show off your lovely legs and you've been searching for the perfect little skirt to do so, then search no more. Ms. von Furstenberg has designed the Ginsy Skirt ($225). First shown at DVF's Spring 2010 show, this entire look is a knockout. The tiger print completely sets this skirt apart from others. The color tone will work with all skin tones and the length (or lack of) adds sexiness without appearing trashy. Using animal print can be a bit tricky to work with. So if not done correctly, it can take away from the overall sophistication of a piece and cheapen the look. Luckily, DVF has a keen eye for working with patterns and always has the ability to bring out the beauty in women.

DKNY Zebra Print Purse Set, Handbag of the Day

The Dolce & Gabbana Miss Martini Patchwork Pony Shoulder Bag is a fun way to work a lot of animals prints into your outfit at the same time.

Some of these prints are actually pony hair, originating from Italy and New Zealand, so not only does the bag make it look like you're dating a successful Serengeti fur trapper, but it's soft and stroke-worthy (helpful, because you miss him on his long trips).

In all seriousness, this is super cute. Throw this over your shoulder with a little black dress, put a martini in the other hand, and you might as well be in Mad Men. Zebra Canvas Shoulder Pouch, Handbag of the Day

Now here's a zebra print I actually like. The Zebra Canvas Shoulder Pouch by Temperley London is a little muted but still very much recognizable and fashion forward. Done in brown and blush in cotton canvas (another reason I like it!), it has brown leather trim and goldtone hardware. The drawstring top gives it a cute pouchy shape while the circular leather base helps it to both hold it's shape and stay sitting up when you set it down. The leather drawstring is pulled through large leather loops and the matching leather handle has a woven circular pattern at the top. One internal pouch pocket in the pale salmon lining, $600.

Nancy Gonzalez Zebra Hobo, Handbag of the Day

Our love affair with Nancy Gonzalez continues with this striking Zebra Hobo.

Made in Columbia, this bag features a warm tan and black zebra-print haircalf exterior with shiny black Caiman fuscus crocodile accents, double top handles with a magnetic closure, and protective feet on the bottom. The inside has zipper pockets and a cell phone pocket, and at 13"H x 15"W x 4"D, this bag is big enough for day -- and still sexy and dressy enough for night.

What does this go with? Everything. Black compliments black, brown would pick up the golden tones, and white would be a sharp and fabulous contrast. That "Add to Wish List" button on the BG page has never been so enticing.

The Nancy Gonzales Zebra Hobo is available from Bergdorf Goodman for $2,550, unless you're in Canada. We don't know why.

Amazon Bag by Marc Jacobs, Handbag of the Day

The Amazon Shoulder Bag by Marc Jacobs is definitely not meant for the resident wall-flower at the party with vibrant hues, a mix of animal prints (including python, hairhide, and patchwork) and multiple flowery leather tassels dangling all over the place -- plus a little golden padlock detail. Very bold and retro-eighties. Unfortunately it's a shoulder bag (I think a clutch would work better with a crazy design like this) and features a layered flap top.

I think this bag is completely and totally horrendous, but if I ever see a woman carrying it I will respect her (for the guts). $2,850

Animal prints can be tricky to wear. In most instances, a little goes a long way, but they're fun to wear so it's not a bad idea to have a piece or two in your closet at home. Zebra print can be a little more forgiving than leopard or other spotted prints because stripes are a bit easier to work with and black and white is easy to accessorize. The Furla Large Cavalino Bag has just a touch of the animal print that is so prevalent on handbags and shoes this fall. The judicious use of the print is a welcome change for anyone who enjoys the look of the patterns but does not want to look as though they are toting around the entire animal. Dolce & Gabbana Leopard-Print Satchel, Handbag of the Day

One of the hottest trends for fall is animal print and designers aren't shying away from making bold statements with the patterns. A perfect example is this Leopard-Print Satchel from Dolce & Gabbana. The large tote has a large, all-over hair-calf leopard print that is accentuated by the contrasting brown leather trim. The plainness of the solid colors actually makes the print "pop" out even more. Further accenting the bag are the gold chain insets on the shoulder strap and the leather tassels at either end of the bag. It has an open top with a slightly frayed edge, where designers may have been trying to add a touch of wildness to what is otherwise a very clean-lined bag. Price: $995.
