The latest aircraft to get the FAA seal of approval as a Special Light Sport Aircraft is the amphibious Mermaid. The Mermaid is built in the Czech Republic by Czech Aircraft Works of Stare Mesto and sold in the U.S. through Sport Aircraft Works. The single engine Mermaid is the first amphibian designed to comply with the FAA’s new LSA rules. It's a two-seater with a wide cockpit and large baggage area. The seats are removable and the Mermaid can double as a dockside bed. Deliveries will will start sometime this month.
