Bovet Amadeo Mille Fleurs Convertible Watch
Like all pieces in Bovet's Amadeo collection, this new Mille Fleurs model is perfect for Valentine's Day offering a hand-painted flower on the mother-of-pearl dial. Nothing is more romantic than "custom." Customers can request all sorts of flowers from Bovet. In fact, when it comes down to it, customers can request just about anything to be painted on the dial. In 18k red or white gold, the Amadeo style case is 39mm wide. It has detachable straps and comes with an optional gold chain. This allows the watch to be either a wrist watch, pocket watches, pendant watch, or desk clock. Very cool.

Each of the 12 hour markers are done as set diamonds, while more diamonds are set into the "bow" style crown protector. Inside the watch is a Bovet calibre 11BA12 automatic movement with a 72 hour power reserve. Look for these where Bovet watches are sold.

Bovet Fleurier Amadeo Ladies Touch Watch

Using its convertible watch case design - Bovet has released this new women's watch called the Amadeo Ladies Touch. Shouldn't it be "lady's touch?" The watch has four "forms." There is a module to make it a wrist watch, you can remove it and make it a pocket watch, open the back to make it a table clock, and you can attach a chain to make it a pendant style timepiece. I do really like the concept and Bovet does it well, though I wonder if clients actually use more than one wearing style.

The Amadeo Ladies Touch case is 39mm wide in 18k rose or white gold. You can have the dial with either black or white mother of pearl, while the hour indicators are each diamonds in a gold setting. You'll notice a small butterfly on the dial of the watch. This is hand-painted, and can be customized by the buyer. Bovet will pretty much hand-paint whatever you like on the dial.

Bovet timepieces mostly look like pocket watches on the wrist, so this convertible concept suits the brand well. The Ladies Touch watch is quite understated and tasteful. Not exciting per se, but I can see how something like this could grow on you. Inside the watch is a Bovet Fleurier in-house made Caliber 11BA13 automatic movement with a three day power reserve.

Bovet Fleurier Amadeo 43mm Classic Convertible Watch

While Bovet continues to makes beautiful watches that are convertible by nature, they will never make pocket watches or most other wearing styles aside from being a wrist watch cool again. The novelty value in such watches is just that - the fact that people can show off their wrist watches as items of art that are inspired by pocket watches, that are actual small pocket watches, and can claim to be several things at once. Though when it comes down to it, Bovet still represents the brand that gives you the ability to wear small pocket watches on your wrist. Though that doesn't mean there is anything in-genuine about their timepieces being several things at once.

The new Amadeo Fleurier Amadeo 43mm Classic watch is a true pocket watch in style, complete with top mounted crown and protector. The case is all 18k red gold, filled with a high-end Frederic Piguet automatic movement (soon to be merely "Blancpain manufacture") with a 3 day power reserve, and a power reserve indicator on the dial. The subsidiary seconds dial sure helps enhance that pocket watch feel. Most of the time the watch sits mounted to a black reptile strap, looking uniquely classic. What other watches have serpentine hands that look quite this good?

Bovet hopes that once in a while you will take the Amadeo off the strap and either uses it on the chain or as a little table clock with its fold out leg stand. They even suggest to women to wear it as a pendant. How often a woman will want to lug a 43mm wide brick of gold around her neck is yet to be seen - though at least the watch will have a substantial feel to it. Bovet claims that the process of changing the watch into its various forms/uses is rather simple. That may be so, but the novelty of the item is worth more than its ability to go from pocket watch to mini desk clock. This is also the most simple Amadeo version, in the Amadeo collection. Each of which has the ability to be a convertible piece. Prices start around $34,000.
