Indian Cloth Hooded Scarf

Looking more like a sweater than a scarf, Indian Cloth's Hooded Scarf ($620) will certainly keep you warm. It features a heavy double knit of baby alpaca, a hood, and the length provides an extra layer of warmth underneath a long sweater coat or winter jacket. Although the front is quite long, the back hits right above your waist, which seem like a disadvantage, but I suppose it would be then be considered a hooded sweater at that point.

Given its length, button front and double front pockets, you could wear it as a sweater. Or if you prefer, the Hooded Scarf could be left unbuttoned and wrapped around your neck. Seen here in charcoal, it's also available in army and orche

Outrageously Expensive Socks by Rodarte

Rodarte is a unique fashion house – and that's an understatement. The masterminds behind the brand, designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, posses an eccentric sense of style that always provokes buzz (whether positive or negative) and anticipation for their runway shows and latest creations. So it comes as no surprise that they would release hand crocheted knee socks with a dizzying price tag of $500.

Yes – for socks. Socks that are not made from leather, are not bejeweled with Swarovski crystals, have not been worn by Michael Jackson, and are not filled with $500 in cash. They're made from alpaca and mohair and don't appear to offer much warmth given their numerous holes. And please don't throw them in the wash, spot cleaning only. While it's hard to justify $500 socks, I do like the color scheme and it provides inspiration to knit myself a pair for the cold winter months ahead.

Haute Hippie Poncho

This poncho by Haute Hippe is one of the more interesting ponchos that I've seen in some time. It's made from alpaca, which is extremely soft against your skin and warmer than wool. Not only is the fiber itself full of texture and depth, but the over-sized cowl neck is an accent that subtly breaks up the poncho's pattern and only maximizes on an already unique piece of clothing. The hand coiled fibers hanging effortlessly along the edges offer an eye catching decorative touch to complete the look. Price: $1395.

Marni Alpaca Tote, Handbag of the Day

This fluffy, soft Alpaca Tote by Marni is the 'comfort food' of the handbag world. I only wish it weren't real fur (these days they can work wonders with the faux stuff) but if you're going to go there this is a least a gorgeous, classy way to do it. It's a lovely shade of white-gray called "frost" and has a silvertone frame and a sliding leather handle, internal pockets, and a twill lining. What a luxe, unique way to dress up your winter wardrobe. $2,440
