A former financial advisor has gotten into the jewelry business. Alicia Van Fleteren worked for more than a decade in financial services before turning jewelry design into a full-time business. The San Francisco Bay Area artist creates hand-beaded jewelry using semi-precious gemstones, silver, gold and pearls. The Alicia Van Fleteren pieces are modestly priced, prices start at just $40 for a pair of delicate earrings. The piece shown at right features rough cut black diamonds, blue topaz drops and green tourmaline. It sells for $248.
