The Sanderson Hotel's 'Drink Me' Potion Offers A Holiday Dinner In A Tiny Bottle

The Sanderson Hotel in London has given its popular afternoon tea an intriguing Alice In Wonderland makeover for the holidays. Head chef Peter Lloyd has created a Christmas version of the much-in -demand Mad Hatters Afternoon tea. 'Drink Me' is an enticing looking bottle contains a weird and wonderful potion holding within it a three course Christmas dinner, comprising of parsnip & honey soup, Roast Turkey and Christmas pudding. The bizarre concoction offers a different and contrasting taste experience with each sip as you drink through the layers with a straw. The Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2:30-5:30pm and is priced at £25 per person.

The Plaza Hotel's Palm Court Opens for Afternoon Tea Service

The Plaza Hotel recently reopened the newly renovated Palm Court.

As part of the Plaza Hotel's $450 million, three year restoration, the Palm Court has reopened and its newly launched afternoon tea service is not to be missed.

Known as the heart and soul of The Plaza, the Palm Court is a vast landmark space bordered by mirrored doors, fleur-de-peche marble columns and crowned with a domed yellow-and-green skylight. A recently completed restoration returned the room to its original design not seen for over fifty years. The $6.5 million restoration included the re-creation of the original 1,800 square foot stained-glass lay light that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was covered up in the 1950s and not exposed until the renovation brought it back to life. The Palm Court's renovation also introduced new lighting and furnishings. The airy, romantic space within the legendary hotel is nothing short of breathtaking.

Plaza Reopens Palm Court

The 103-year-old lunching venue The Palm Court at The Plaza Hotel has reopened and is ready to take your orders for Devonshire and chamomile. It has taken $6.5 million to make the room ready again, part of the $450 million renovation of The Plaza, with part of those funds spent to uncover and restore The Palm's stained-glass lay light.

In addition to afternoon tea and lunch, Sundays will offer an a la carte brunch menu with food prepared by ex-Country and ex-Table 8 Executive Chef Willis Loughead. His specialty is farm-to-table dishes with locally-sourced ingredients, which might save you trips to the Finger Lakes and the Hamptons since that's where your food will be coming from. Selections such as Palm Court Tea, come with three-tier display scones, tea sandwiches and pastries, while the New Yorker Tea offers black-and-white cookies, organic roast beef on a pretzel roll, and New York cheesecake.

Children will be attended to with a dedicated menu and cocktails, and The Palm Court will be available for special events in the evening. Afternoon tea runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., if you're really keen to sit under the light you can pop down for breakfast at at 6:30 a.m., seven days a week. If there's anything that hasn't changed, though, it's the dress code: business casual is the order of the day.
