diamond superstar shoes
In celebration of their 60th anniversary, otherwise known as the diamond anniversary, Adidas has added some diamond bling to one of their most popular shoe designs, the Superstar. The Diamond Superstar is made of fine leather and is accessorized with real diamonds and Swarovski crystals. The diamonds are found on the shoe sides between the black stripes, and the crystals adorn the lace tips, lace-locks, and the Adidas logo tongue ornament (which also comes with a chain so it can be worn as a pendant if desired). Every pair comes in black box suitable for display, individual velvet bags for each shoe, and an Adidas tee adorned with over 400 more Swarovski crystals. Limited edition, £450.

New Porsche Design x Adidas Sport Collection

Filed under: Apparel, Yachts & Sailing, Sports, Men's Style

Adidas and Porsche Design have just debuted their new Spring/Summer 2009 Porsche Design Sport Collection, their biggest collaboration yet. Their line of Running apparel, originally launched in January 2007, will now also include Fitness models, while a whole new category called Water / Snow is being added. That makes five categories in total including Driving, Golf and Tennis. Porsche Design Sport "stands for the unique fusion of engineered luxury and sport performance." The collection will be be available in selected high-end stores, Adidas Sport Performance Concept Stores and Porsche Design Stores worldwide.

Highlights for Spring/Summer 2009 include a Storm Jacket designed for the new Water / Snow range, which features a new membrane technology that "reacts to changing temperatures and activities, offers moisture vapor permeability at the highest level and is wind and waterproof, ensuring optimum body climate." There's also a new Horizon sneaker, Adidas' "first luxury shoe specially engineered for sailing and water related activities." It features a drainage system throughout the foot bed and sole for "optimal deviation of water" as well as a high abrasion resistant rubber sole with a multidirectional grip enabling a quicker response on a wet boat deck.

Nike Limited Edition Futsal Ball

Nike must be jealous that Adidas got the official sponsorship for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, not to mention that they got to design the official game ball($130), because Nike has released a limited edition soccer ball "to celebrate the spirit of the World Cup." The white leather Futsal balls are decorated with an array of symbols that represent "diversity, behavior and skills shown by players," though Nike does not mention which symbol represents which player or skill. Any guess as to what the gnarled tree represents? Or the unicorn?

Only 64 of these balls will be produced and they will only be sold until the final game on July 9th, assuming that they don't sell out before then. Price: $225.

NBA Finals Shoe

Somehow, it seems that we missed the boat on the NBA Finals Shoes. More than likely, it's because we're more interested in watching the World Cup than in watching basketball. Nevertheless, these limited edition shoes are pretty cool. Only 60 pairs were made - with 12 pairs were sold online and 48 pairs at the NBA store in New York. Each pair was individually decorated by graffiti artist Oscar Gale/Toast and sold for $175.

If NBA fans weren't so fanatical about their shoes, I'd expect to see a pair on eBay soon, but as it is, you might have to wait until after the finals season until anyone is willing to part with a pair.

Top 10 Women's Shoes for Spring

What are the top trends in women's shoes this season? Think heels that are very, very high. Think wedges that tower. And think pointy heels that are super-aggressive. But the look isn't all tough, with feminine touches like bows, ribbons and polka dots softening the look for spring.

Look for plenty of fierce-looking, "Gladiator"-inspired footwear this spring, including Alexander McQueen's leather strappy sandal. Price: $695.

The Adidas 1 Sneaker, Now in Fashion Colors

A year ago, Adidas released the Adidas 1, the running shoe with a microprocessor and a motorized cable system to adjust cushioning depending on how hard you run. Now the Adidas 1 is coming out in a new line of colors. They are also making a basketball shoe that works on the same principle as the original Adidas 1. It has a magnetic sensor in the heel that senses the level of compression. The basketball model has new software and physical characteristics for basketball and recognizes different kinds of compression associated with basketball. The basketball shoes sells for $250 and should be out in May, the new colors of the Adidas 1 are out now.

Adidas and Stella McCartney Partner On A New Running Shoe

Fashion designer Stella McCartney has teamed up with Adidas to create the a³ Flyride, a new running shoe for women that uses the lightest heel-to-toe a3 cushioning system for women. The a³ Flyride was designed exclusively for women to be lighter, softer and more flexible. It also has breathability through the net mesh upper and sweat-absorbing and anti-odor treatments in the insole. The design includes an asymmetrical lacing system and a muted feminine color scheme including the signature Stella McCartney color of dusty rose.
