Didn't Get World Series Tickets? How About Buying the Ticket Booth!

Disappointed you didn't get tickets to the first game of the World Series this evening? Well, here's your chance to own a piece of history.

New York-based Steiner Sports is offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a piece of history: a Yankee Stadium Ticket Booth. The price of the booth is $20,000.

The ticket booth is just one of many iconic and cherished items from the original Yankee Stadium, a landmark that is regarded as one of the most significant monuments in sports history. Yankees-Steiner Collectibles, which is a division of Steiner Sports, is the exclusive provider of game-used memorabilia from the original and current Yankee Stadium.

Steiner Sports offers many other collectibles for purchase including the seats where Reggie Jackson's monstrous home runs landed as well as the sod where Yankees legends stood to say their final goodbyes to their beloved Stadium.

The company also has an array of autographed sports memorabilia signed by the likes of Hank Aaron, Joe Namath, Muhammad Ali and Derek Jeter, among others.

The ticket booth is not available for purchase through the web; interested buyers should call Steiner Sports directly at (800) 759-SCORE or (914) 307-1000. Other memorabilia from Yankee Stadium are also available via a public sale and at auction by visiting Steiner Sports' website.

Yankee Stadium Sod Up For Auction

Yankees fans can have a piece of the old stadium in their own back yard. Steiner Sports is selling the 20' x 20'; plot of sod from the area behind home plate that was used in the Yankees old stadium. The lot comes with the Yankee stencil, white sod paint, lawn flag, special grass seed and a letter of authenticity. Delea Sod Farms, the official sod farm of the NY Yankees™ will provide instructions to properly transplant the living sod into your own yard or local ball field and maintain it for years to come. The auction notes that the actual turf will be coming from northern New Jersey and will be shipped via a freight company which charges a steep $7.50 per mile away. Ten percent of the proceeds benefit Family Services of Westchester which provides social and mental health services for more than 30,000 people a year. The auction has a starting price of $15,000 and ends on July 9th.

Buyer Up! Yankees Auction Off Stadium Memorabilia

Let's get this straight. First the New York Yankees build a taxpayer-supported new stadium which, after cost overruns, comes to a whopping $1.5 billion. Then they charge $2,500 a game for the best seats in the house (a price they cut in half when the tickets embarrassingly weren't selling). And now they've begun auctioning off artifacts of the old stadium at exorbitant prices to earn back the $11.5 million the team paid the city to be able to dismantle the publicly owned ballpark.

Now that we've got all that squared away, here's a sampling of the items that went on offer this week from Yankees' partner Steiner Sports. A pair of seats (pictured), made of royal blue plastic and dating from the old stadium's renovation in the mid-1970s, begins at $1,499. A 2x2-foot chunk of freeze-dried sod starts at $280. A square of outfield turf ten times that size costs $10,000 and up. Getting sticker shock? Compared with the original price of top-of-line season tickets this year--$202,500--it's a veritable bargain.

Tommy Bahama Bar Brings Island Style To Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium has a wide variety of places to eat but there are also places to drink. Lifestyle brand Tommy Bahama has created the Tommy Bahama's Bar which overlooks the Great Hall that serves as the main entrance and a meeting place for fans. Yankee Stadium ticket-takers will be wear blue polo shirts or half-zip pullover sweatshirts with the New York Yankees insignia on the left chest and the Tommy Bahama marlin on the left sleeve. Select Tommy Bahama merchandise will also be sold at Yankee Stadium. The bar also serves drinks using the Tommy Bahama Rum making it a nice tie-in for the brand even if rum isn't the usual baseball drink of choice.

Iron Chef To Cook At Yankee Stadium

The new Yankee Stadium is set to open next month for baseball season and if you have seats in the some of the club areas you could be in for some culinary treats. The NY Times reports that those the Legends Suite Club will see chefs from the Food Network occasionally cook at two open kitchens. One of the chefs will be Masaharu Morimoto of "Iron Chef" fame and chefs from Le Cirque and Elaine's will also make appearances. The pricey premium seats do offer free food.
