Don Imus Asks $30 Million for Connecticut Mansion, Estate of the Day

Caustic radio personality Don Imus has just listed his waterfront Westport, Connecticut estate (above) for $30 million. The 10,000-sq.-ft. white clapboard "Greco-Georgian" Revival mansion features 16 rooms including six bedrooms and six baths, with classic white-painted wooden interiors, a library, and multiple bay windows, the Wall St. Journal reports. The four acre property also has a two-bedroom guest house and a two-bedroom gatehouse with parking for six cars.

The estate boasts 215 ft. of sandy beach frontage on Long Island Sound. Imus, 68, bought the property in 1997 for $4.6 million and finished building the house in 2000. If he does manage to get $30 million for it, he'll beat the price record for Westport - the tony town known for famed resident Martha Stewart - held by the $25 million sale in 2006 of talk-show host Phil Donahue's house, the Journal notes. Michael Bolton in Westport, Estate of the Day

One of the Real Estalker's many tipsters revealed that Michael Bolton recently put his Westport, Connecticut home on the market. The town of Wesport is a quiet, tony enclave that we've mentioned when looking at homes belonging to Martha Stewart and Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas.

Bolton's home is a six-bedroom expanse located on Nash's Pond. The home is "Tuscan-inspired" and has a formal albeit bland interior design. The home is enriched with dark polished mahogany wood and Italian marble floors and ncludes a screening room, formal dining room, chef's kitchen and a master suite with a veranda. The Real Estalker Mama reports that Bolton's property is two separate lots of over an acre each and that Bolton bought the home way back in 1991 for $975,000. The smaller lot which measures 1.2 acres has a four-bedroom home that has been used as a guest house and also serves as Bolton's music studio. The grounds feature a tennis court, putting green, piazza, swimming pool, formal gardens and a dock on Nash's pond. Bolton has put this property on the market for $11 million.

We've browsed through listings in Westport Connecticut before, checking out listings belonging to Martha Stewart and Phil Donahue among others. Westport is home to many classic homes that hug the scenic New England coast. The Hermitage is perched for beautiful views over the water frontage. The six-bedroom home also has a movie theater. The estate is on 2.5 acres of wide green lawns, a deep water dock, beach, waterside pool, and tennis court. The Hermitage can be yours for $15.5 million. Usually on principle I don't highlight estate listings that don't let you peek inside but I'll make an exception for this one. I thought Martha Stewart's house in Westport, Connecticut was pretty fly but this one has it beat. The 6.65 acre property is actually three separate lots with two houses that can satisfy both your need for a classic home and something more modern. There is a 11,000-square-foot Palladian-style mansion with a heated pool and a pool house. When you tire of the traditional life you can walk on over to the 5,000-square-foot contemporary guest house with a pool overlooking Long Island Sound. The compound is listed at $37.9 million.
