$20,000 Makaha Empress Wood Surfboard

New Zealander Roy Stewart has designed a $20,000 Makaha surfboard (above) made of 400 individually crafted pieces of empress wood. The handmade, limited edition surfboard is "museum quality", but designed to be used. The 12"9" Makaha is modeled on the olo boards once reserved for royalty among Polynesian natives. It's incredibly flexible and accelerates in the water aided by a Vort-X tunnel fin for serious performance and speed, yet, Stewart notes, it is "extremely forgiving and easy to ride, just as comfortable cruising small waves as it is racing large ones." The Makaha has a three-month lead time for delivery but includes a custom travel bag.

Aviva's IceBerg Helps You Cool Off

Perhaps summer water fun is getting boring -- just boating, waterskiing, and swimming -- and something with icy appeal you can climb up and slide off would do the trick. Reminiscent of a jump-castle on the water's surface Aviva's IceBerg brings out the adventurer in you. For $5,750 you can inflate it, place it and provide fun to a whole slew of friends and family for hours. (I know there are a bunch of bikini babes in the pictures -- these, sadly, are not included in the price...neither is an air pump but at least you can purchase that on the site.)
