Pinball Museum Finds Home In Georgetown Mall

David Silverman is one dedicated pinball fan. The collector, who owns about 900 pinball machines will finally have a public space for his National Pinball Museum. Silverman lives in Colesville, Maryland and has been running his museum out of a warehouse in his backyard but that's about to change. He recently was offered a space in the Shops at Georgetown Park in Washington, D.C. He had tried to get a museum started in his own county but after receiving an offer of two years rent-free space at the Shops at Georgetown Park it was a deal he couldn't refuse.

Mall officials hope the museum will attract people to the mall. Visitors to the 14,000-square-foot location will pay a $13.50 entrance fee to visit the exhibits, library, theater, classroom, restoration room, gift shop and a pay-to-play room. The museum will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, beginning in September. The museum is a nonprofit and proceeds go toward paying for utilities, staffing and machine maintenance and renovation.
