WWD's 100th Anniversary Book

Here's a perfect gift for the fashionista in your life (even if that's you): WWD: 100 Years, 100 Designers. Fairchild Books and WWD (Women's Wear Daily) recently unveiled this special edition, large-format book commemorating WWD's 100th anniversary. Compiled by WWD's editors, the book examines the careers and creations of 100 designers who are among the past century's most influential style icons and tastemakers.

In its 312 pages, the book pays homage to WWD's century of fashion-industry news and daily style coverage from 1910 to the present. Filled with hundreds of stunning photographs and lavish illustrations, one section features designer interviews conducted through the years for WWD including Giorgio Armani, Gabriel "Coco" Chanel, John Galliano, Tommy Hilfiger, Halston, Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Gianni Versace, and Diane Von Furstenberg.

The first book published by Fairchild Books, it's available at Amazon ($65).

RSVIP: Women's Wear Daily Toasts 100th Anniversary at Cipriani 42nd Street

Buckle your seat belts, and get ready to clink Bellini flutes with over 1,000 fashionistas. On Tuesday, November 2, WWD, Women's Wear Daily, America's fashion bible, invited their rather extensive and starry inner circle to Cipriani 42nd Street to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the daily publication, including the designing Olsen twins, right.

The drama began that morning at 5:30 a.m., when a 40-ton semi braked at the New York venue to unload original art by John Galliano. After much head-scratching, the elephantine signed canvas-cum-ballgown had to be removed from the stretcher and rolled to make it fit through the doors of the palatial former bank building. Lord knows how the Jeep Grand Wagoneer with faux wooden paneling, auction item lot 22202, with black watch seats designed by Tommy Hilfiger, rolled inside.

But by 6:00 p.m., a forest of fall foliage had taken its place in tall vases papered with the pages of WWD. And the vintage Jeep was parked at the center of a half-acre carpet. A shower of umbrellas decorated with a decoupage of fashion news cascaded down from the 80-foot-high ceiling.

Men and women in white linen jackets soon began taking coats and yet another crisp team passed hors d'oeuvres: croque-monsieur, porcini in phyllo, American caviar, crab canapé, and later, coffee mini éclairs.

Designer Stockings For A Good Cause

If you are still looking for a stocking stuffer, Women's Wear Daily has the auction for you and the designer stocking is included. The industry magazine will put six customized designer stockings on eBay for an auction that starts on December 20 and ends on Christmas Day. Each one is filled with special treats that match the designer such as , Vera Wang's Broadway tickets to Grey Gardens, Rodarte's Tender is the Night, Marc Jacobs' ribbon watch, Tuleh's ostrich clutch, Alexander McQueen's skeleton key chain and Heatherette's bubblegum tank top. All proceeds benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels which offers nutritious food and human company to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need.

WWD Stockings for Charity

Women's Wear Daily (WWD) is holding a holiday charity auction to benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels, which provides food and company to the homebound elderly in New York. For the auction, each of six designers put together a stocking full of holiday goodies. Rodarte by Laura and Kate Mulleavy has a wool and silk chiffon stocking with georgette and organza rosettes, Marc Jacobs (pictured) used a quilted leather stocking with chain hardware. Vera Wang has a silk duchesse satin stocking. Tuleh by Bryan Bradley packed goodies into an oversized cotton and linen stocking with metal bow and Alexander McQueen's contribution is in an embroidered wool tartan stocking. Heatherette by Richie Rich and Traver Rains stuck with a fairly traditional cotton knit stocking.

Prices vary along with the value of the goodies inside each stocking and the auctions end on Christmas day.
