A car show just wouldn't be a car show if we didn't catch a glimpse at some of the most exotic, unobtainable and superlative supercars ever to grace black tarmac. And the Geneva Motor Show never disappoints.

Surrounded by countries producing the finest precision performance machines this side of the Space Shuttle, the Geneva show plays common ground to such notables as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Koenigsegg, to name just a few. This year they all came to the city by the lake to display their latest innovations. Follow the jump to read and view what they had in store for us.

Robb Report Awards Mercedes SLS AMG 2010 Car of the Year, Bugatti Veyron Car of the Decade

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The time has come for luxury mag Robb Report to issue its latest Car of the Year. Being that the end of 2009 also marks the end of a tidy little decade, the editors at the magazine took the opportunity to bestow one important car with the title Car of the Decade – the first time in the 17 years that Robb Report has been handing out automotive awards that it's granted two in one year. So, who won?

First up is the Car of the Year, which goes out to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. In taking the award, the SLS AMG beat out 11 other worthy contenders to the throne. Certainly not a terrible choice by any means, though this particular blogger has yet to find himself lodged behind the Gullwing's leather-wrapped steering wheel. Moving on, then.

Robb Report's
Car of the Decade trophy has been awarded to the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. A good choice? Click here to read Autoblog's take on what it's like to pilot a $2,000,000 drop-top cruise missile. Yeah, as good a choice as any, we'd say. Click past the break to read more commentary from the magazine and click here to visit the new RobbReport.tv, where you'll see a series of videos recorded during the crew's testing in Napa Valley.

Bugatti Starts Production of Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The world is not lacking for high-priced convertibles. Between exotic machinery like the Ferrari California, Mercedes SL, Bentley Continental GTC, Rolls-Royce Phantom DHC and Pagani Zonda F Roadster, to name just a few, there are plenty of epically fast and monstrously priced open-air motors to choose from. And this is the grand-daddy of them all: the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Initially revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance at Monterey Beach, California, last year, the targa Bugatti is just now entering production, with the first deliveries taking place as early as next month. Only 150 examples will be made, with the first 50 going to existing Veyron owners at a price approaching $2 million, minus pocket change. As fast as the Veyron burns fuel and rubber, its owners will need it.
