Tibet House US Benefit Auction at Christie's

The 7th annual Tibet House US Benefit auction is taking place on November 18th at Christie's Auction House in New York City. The event is aimed at promoting and preserving Tibetan culture. Proceeds from the auction will be divided to sustain the Tibet House and another organization with like-minded initiatives. Some funds will support projects and programs spawned by the Tibet House in their mission of displaying and maintaining the ancient traditions of the Tibetan civilization. The event will also donate to Tibetan Children's Village an integrated educational community for destitute Tibetan children in exile located in Dharamsala, India. The fundraiser will also benefit the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey.

Items to be auctioned off include a package of four VIP concert tickets and a meet and greet backstage with Sting, internships at Rolling Stone and US Weekly, a private journey for two to Bhutan with guest accommodations, a luxury yacht cruise for seven to the Bahamas with a week long stay in a private house on the beach, lunch at the Four Seasons restaurant in New York City with Uma and Robert Thurman, shopping and lunch with Donna Karan at her store, John Lennon, Martin Scorsese, and Miles Davis memorabilia, a one-week stay in a villa on the French Riviera, contemporary art and photographs from Annie Leibovitz, Patti Smith, Ed Ruscha, Donald Baechler, and more. TIckets to the event are $225 per person with VIP tickets that include a preview and private reception available for $500.

Artist Dash Snow Dies, Heroin

New York artist and gallery darling Dash Snow died Tuesday at the age of 27: heroin was the culprit. The hot artist's work lives on at the Saatchi Gallery in London, where his project "Abstract America: New Painting and Sculpture" is on display. His work has also been shown in Gagosian Gallery, Deitch Projects and is held in permanent collections at the Whitney and Brooklyn Museum.

Snow has worked in graffiti, photography and even his own semen. Though he has famous roots (Uma Thurman's his aunt), Snow preferred a gritty life on the Lower East Side involving theft, jail time and the narcotic that caused his demise. The world has lost a creative force – but one that was destructive at the same time.

Unforgettable Steve McQueen

This past summer we wrote about all the various books, auctions and so forth paying tribute to the King of Cool. The one we've long been waiting for has finally arrived, and it's without a doubt the best we've ever seen: Unforgettable Steve McQueen, edited by Henri Suzeau from Verlhac Editions in conjunction with Tag Heuer. This is the perfect gift for the enthusiast of classic men's style or really any connoisseur of cool.

It's a stunningly well-curated collection of McQueen photos, encompassing some iconic images but also plenty of rare and little-known pictures of the man Uma Thurman calls "Extremely sexy, extremely wild and extremely talented" in the introduction. Steve McQueen's rugged sportiness, authentic masculinity and innate good taste have inspired countless fashion designers, not to mention scores of other actors who followed in his wake.

Uma Thurman Sues Lancome

It's safe to say Uma Thurman won't be wearing Lancome any time soon. The actress has filed a $15 million lawsuit against the French cosmetics company saying that they continued use her face in their ads after her contract expired. The licensing agreement to use Thurman's image ended in 2004 but the suit says that the brand has continued to use her face to sell products around the world for the past four years. Lancome has filed their own suit saying that it did not violate the contract and does not owe her money. A spokesperson for L'Oreal, the owner of Lancome, said that the use of her image after the contract expired was not deliberate or intentional.

This isn't the first time we've seen celebrity endorsement gone wrong. Last year, watch company Raymond Weil sued Charlize Theron after she wore a Dior watch to an event while under an exclusive endorsement agreement with Weil.
