Tuxedo Park, Estate of the Day

Today's estate is a glitzy beauty in Atlanta's pricey Tuxedo Park area. The brick and limestone Georgian estate mimics the look of a fancy English manor. The six bedroom home has lavish appointments including a wood paneled office and a vaulted master bathroom. The taste is a bit over the top in places. Mounted fish hang in the billiards room and what appear to be fake vegetables dangle along with copper pots above the kitchen's granite countertop. Outside there is a pool with a cabana wet bar and a brick outdoor fireplace. This home is listed at $6.9 million.

Price Collier Estate, Estate of the Day

In New York's elegant Tuxedo Park, the Price Collier estate is one of the homes that remains from the days of Gilded Age glamour. The eight-bedroom estate was designed by Tuxedo Park founding architect Bruce Price in 1900. The Georgian estate sits on 11.3 acres overlooking beautiful Tuxedo Lake. The home's original architectural details include hand carved moldings and mantlepieces and restored hardwood floors. The home's style harkTuxedo Park's glory years in the early 1900s when America's blue bloods inhabited its great estates. The formal paneled library is a beauty to behold and the solarium is the perfect place to enjoy coffee while taking in the lake views. The home has an updated kitchen. The property has a large seven-car garage, swimming pool and a rustic cabin. This classic home is listed at $6.85 million.

Arthur Blank In Atlanta, Estate of the Day

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank isn't planning to leave the city his team plays for but he is trying to sell his Atlanta home so he can move to another one. The co-founder of Home Depot has had his Buckhead area home on the market for a year with no sale and the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties reports that Blank has now cut the price by 18 percent to $8.9 million. Blank bought the home in 1993 for $3.38 million so he will still make a tidy profit on the deal. The home was built in the early 1950s and is located in the Tuxedo Park neighborhood. The seven-bedroom home is on four acres with a three-car garage and a pool.

This home is located near another mansion which has had a price cut. Windcrofte, the former mansion of the former head of Coca-Cola, Robert Woodruff. It was listed at $13.9 million last year and is now listed at $10.9 million.

Also in the area, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Rossdhu, the 91-year-old mansion we covered as an estate of the day last December has had a price cut. It was $14.5 million and is now listed at $11.75 million.

Lindley Hall, Estate of the Day

Another Warren and Wetmore masterpiece in Tuxedo Park, New York, Lindley Hall has one of the most beautiful sun rooms I have ever seen. The home was originally built for Henry Whitney Munroe and was purchased in 1926 by Clara Hill Lindley, sister of Ruth Hill Beard, who built another famous Tuxedo Park Chateau, Chastellux. The Louis XIIII style chateau has views of the lake and mountains and is full of large ornate rooms with heavy fireplaces, wood paneling and marble floors. The pictures aren't great and I suspect it's in need of some renovation but those curved doorways and moldings are amazing. It is listed at $6.75 million.

Marion Hall, Estate of the Day

We are back to Tuxedo Park, New York, a village that is home to some of the most beautiful older homes in the U.S. We've checked out a couple of them before, now let's look at handsome Marion Hall. The home was designed by the prestigious architectural firm of Hoppin & Koen for Wall Street moneyman John Harris in 1910. The Georgian-style home sits on six lakefront acres and is over 12,000 square feet of space with columns, elegant modelings, 13 fireplaces and beautiful wood paneling. The library alone has me captivated with its rich paneling and fireplace. There are eight bedrooms total. This home is $6.75 million making it the most inexpensive home I've covered in this town thus far.
