Having this enormous pop of sunny yellow on your arm would make it impossible to be in a bad mood. It's the Willa Tote by William & Son of London and it's been redone for the 2011 spring season in this shade as well as a rich orange. Handcrafted of high quality cow hide and Italian hardware its features include double top handles, an adjustable detachable shoulder strap, signature lining, and all kinds of pockets for everything from your sunglasses to your water bottle to "all those little things in life" we all tote around. £1,100

A bag after my own heart, this Cotton-Twill Tote from Michael Kors is very earthy and natural, as well as neutral and casual and versatile. It features traditional tote-bag styling and gets its personality from uniquely textured and raw-edged lightweight cotton twill along with a couple tan leather patch details. The only other exterior adornment is a small designer-stamped hardware plaque on the bottom side panel. Inside it's finished but unlined, and has one small pocket. Certainly not a flashy fashion statement but a long term go-to bag for seasons to come. $295

Newbark's Weekend Leather and Canvas Tote is a little geometric and a little nautical, all while being very casual chic and versatile. Black and white is always in style and here it's created in striped canvas with textured black leather panels on top and bottom and leather accessories in the form of rolled double top handles and long suede ties dangling down either side. There's also braiding and a large buckle-fastening tab along the top for a little extra personality, plus it's fully lined in camel twill. $950

Looking a little like a lace teddy reincarnated as a handbag this Raffia and Lace Tote by Valentino exudes delicate old-time femininity with its intricate lace pattern and vintage coloring. The basic tote-shaped body made of nude raffia is overlaid with black floral scalloped lace on the bottom three quarters or so, with narrow patent leather top handles and a large looped floral embellishment. What a great way to do sparkles. Jerome Dreyfuss Max Python Tote, Handbag of the Day

Jerome Dreyfuss makes practical bags that are both very wearable and fashion forward. His use of color and texture enhance his accessories resulting in a balance between being a statement bag that immediately grab your attention while remaining wearable for day to day use.

Even if the big bag trend is dying and lady like purses have become all the rage, I'm a woman that carries a multitude of items on any given day and would rather carry one large bag than several little bags. I appreciate Dreyfuss for still designing stylish large bags.

The latest Dreyfuss bag that I'm lusting over is his Emerald Green Python Tote ($3135). The color is vibrant and eye popping, yet it's not obnoxious and won't dominate your outfit. Python skin is beautiful on its own accord but is further enhanced in emerald green.

A roomy interior with a zip pocket will be more than sufficient for your belongings, but if you require additional space, Dreyfuss' Tote can become large by unzipping the sides and there are two exterior zippered pockets with a buckle strap accent. There are double python handles and a shoulder strap which is accented with rope for an unexpected detail.

Not the most feminine creation but attractive for its simplicity, this Fendi Peekaboo Large Tote also comes in cyclamen (magenta) if the earthy shade shown here is too basic for your tastes. The "peekaboo" refers to the signature Zucca jacquard lining that peeps out when the bag is opened. Besides that it features a top frame with structured double top handles attached with rings, protective metal feet, tonal topstitching, and turn-lock closures that fasten the peekaboo sides and the center divide. A great handbag/briefcase hybrid for working women. $2,550

Looking like a glammed-up briefcase or miniature suitcase the Pure Paddington Leather Tote by Chloé is simple, straight forward, and over-sized for maximum impact. The brand's redesign of their iconic bag comes in the form of smooth caramel leather, a very structured rectangular shape, and little else except a tiny gold padlock (and dangling key) that's stamped with the designer's logo. It does have double top handles with stud detailing and inside is one large open compartment along with a thin zippered one, and its fully lined in beige twill. $1,800
