Thompson Hotels to Have 10 Properties by 2009

Jason Pomeranc, the eagle-eyed entrepreneur behind the boutique Thompson Hotels brand, clearly isn't concerned about the economic downturn. Pomeranc recently opened two new outposts, one in New York and one in D.C., and he has another New York space opening this summer to add to the five chic spots already in his portfolio. Recently completed was the revamp of Gild Hall, the Financial District hotel he acquired in December, with a Todd English eatery to follow in the fall; and the Donovan House in D.C. Most enticing of all is the Thompson LES (for Lower East Side) with its rooftop pool featuring an Andy Warhol photomural on the bottom, slated to open this summer. Next year Pomeranc has properties planned for Tribeca and Toronto, bringing his total portfolio up to ten. In addition to the original 60 Thompson opened in 2001, he has the happening Hollywood Roosevelt (pictured above) and the top-drawer Thompson Beverly Hills, both in Los Angeles.
