Temperley London Faberge Lattice Clutch Handbag

Temperly London has taken inspiration from the old-fashioned art of fabergé eggs and gone somewhere modern and glamorous. This Fabergé Evening Lattice Clutch features a gold-tone metal lattice with fuchsia silk-satin underneath and an enormous (almost as big as the bag itself) white tassel embellishment hanging off one side. It opens on a hinge of course, and has a press clasp fastening at the top and a black velvet lining on the inside. This is one of my favorite little clutches to date, although I wish it came in a silver version. $1,550

Zebra Canvas Shoulder Pouch, Handbag of the Day

Now here's a zebra print I actually like. The Zebra Canvas Shoulder Pouch by Temperley London is a little muted but still very much recognizable and fashion forward. Done in brown and blush in cotton canvas (another reason I like it!), it has brown leather trim and goldtone hardware. The drawstring top gives it a cute pouchy shape while the circular leather base helps it to both hold it's shape and stay sitting up when you set it down. The leather drawstring is pulled through large leather loops and the matching leather handle has a woven circular pattern at the top. One internal pouch pocket in the pale salmon lining, $600.

This one is for indulging your inner biker girl. Black leather and silvertone stud details get feminine in several starburst patterns and random other accents placed on everything from the shoulder strap to the buckles. There's a pouch pocket with magnetic closure on the front, a welt pocket with zip closure on the back, both pouch and welt pockets on the inside, tassel details on all the zippers, and a bold black and white zebra-print lining. $1,180

The Fashion Statement: Everything That's Fit to Print

Sadly, the only media going to print in big numbers this fall is fashion.

Patchwork, zebra, leopard, floral, tweeds, plaids, psychedelic and Deco graphics, watercolors and paint-splattered fabrics all made a huge statement on the runways. Fait attention! This is the season to forget every rule you've learned about wearing prints. It's time to go Wild and Crazy Guys, not head-to-toe Pucci.

In other words, designers made an eye-popping show of mixing and matching multiple prints on one look. Much like Dan Aykroyd and Steve Martin's comedic get-ups on Saturday Night Live back in the late '70s, floral prints were shown with plaids. But then we saw tweeds hooking up with cougars (there must be a joke in there somewhere), leopards pairing up with stripes and stripes in primary colors working well with rich paisleys.

The Mulleavy sisters, designers of Rodarte, are perfect examples of the newest generation of print maestros. Their California-based label had catwalk models in big-cat prints, metallic and watercolor-like fabrics all pieced together on ethereal cocktail dresses (pictured above).
