Forbes' List of 'Billion Dollar Donors'

I'm sure a list of the world's wealthiest is a fluctuating compendium these days making a list of donors a nice change of pace from Forbes. Of course most of these 'Billion Dollar Donors' would most likely make the cut for some of the nation's most affluent individuals as well but here their philanthropic tendencies are the focus of attention. These fourteen people, out of 793 billionaires worldwide, have actually donated, not just pledged, over $1 billion total. Here are some of the world's most generous givers:

Ted's Montana Grill Heads To Manhattan

New York City is one of the best places to dine in the world, it's also increasingly becoming a home to chain restaurants. The latest comes from media mogul Ted Turner. Turner is bringing his Atlanta-based chain, Ted's Montana Grill to Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.

There are 42 Ted's restaurants in 17 states serving casual fare with an emphasis on bison burgers and steaks. In an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Turner says that he is planning to build around 15 restaurants per year. The restaurant also has an eco-friendly bent, menus are printed using recycled paper, no plastics are used in the restaurant and soft drinks are served in recyclable glass bottles. Turner is also the nation's largest private landowner, and up to 70 percent of the bison served at his restaurants comes from his own ranches. One of the goals of Ted'shttp://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/stories/2006/09/26/0927bizturner.html was to increase the demand for bison meat and thereby paradoxically contribute to the chance of long-term survival for the species.
