Five Fabulous Things to Do On A Ski Trip Without the Skis in Park City, Utah

You don't have to ski or snowboard to have a good time in Park City, Utah. Besides the Sundance Film Festival and all things Robert Redford, there are a slew of other fabulous ways to spend your days and nights in the resort town. Park City proves itself well in the luxury category.

We put together a list of ways to live well in the city known for having the "Greatest Snow On Earth" (and being the site of a few scenes in Dumb and Dumber), and all without having to ever put on those godforsaken foot and calf-suffocating ski boots.

Apres Ski
In a way, resort hopping the apres ski scene is Park City's other great sporting event. The French term specifically refers to the drinking and revelry that ensues after a long day of skiing or snowboarding. The art of the cocktail is nothing to scoff at in snow country and up in these mountains the Mormon influence shunning drinking and nightlife is forgotten. Alta Resort's Sitzmark Bar is a classic. Off-resort, check out High West Distillery and Saloon. They make their own whiskey and vodka and have a killer, innovative cocktail list with drinks like the High West Silver Julep using High West's Silver Oat Whiskey and Rendezvous Rye. Park City's Main Street features a collection of classic, mountain and Western motif bars and nightclubs like No Name Saloon, The Sidecar, and The Spur. There's also Downstairs, owned by Danny Masterson of "That 70s Show" fame, a hip rocker lounge that celebrities typically flock to when they're in town.

Shop
Ski bunny fashion is no joke in Park City. Locals and pros sport some of the slickest and brightest colored gear and pseudo-gear from brands like The North Face, Patagonia, and Lululemon, or, hanging in resort shopping areas in Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort and The Canyons. It's hard to resist not purchasing a brilliant blue fleece when witness to everyone else looking fashionably ski hip. There's shopping too for the fashion-forward who prefer to wear something that's also stylish away from the resorts. Along Main Street are adorable boutiques like Bunya Bunya and Mary Jane's with clothing and accessories handmade by local artists and independent designers. Park City also has the largest collection of factory outlet stores in northern Utah.

Demi Moore Flies to Sundance in Style with JetSuite

Back in 2008 my colleague Deirdre Woollard first reported on the plans for JetSuite, a new private aviation company from the founders of JetBlue. Now the company has gotten off the ground in high style with help from the likes of Demi Moore, who just took a JetSuite flight to the Sundance Film Festival. JetSuite's fleet of 4-seat Embraer Phenom 100 jets are the best, most fuel-efficient aircraft in their class with speeds up to 450 miles per hour, an operating altitude of up to 41,000 ft, a stylish interior cabin designed by BMW and the largest baggage compartment in its category. The company provides service to major cities (AKA "SuiteSpots") throughout the Western United States, Canada and Mexico. They aim to make the luxury of flying private more accessible and affordable with prices starting at just $999 for a one-way flight – for the whole plane. Moore, who has flown JetSuite before, has praised its ease, convenience and privacy. "She loves that she can depart whenever she wants, not have to deal with long security lines, and leave her shoes, belts, and jewelry on," an insider tells us.

Absolute Jonze - Vodka Funds a Film

I'm Here: A Love Story in an Absolut World is the name of celluloid wizard Spike Jonze's new short film sponsored by Absolut Vodka.

I'm Here is a 30-minute love story between two robots, and debuted Friday night at Sundance. The film will be available for mass-viewing online in March (after a Berlin Film Festival screening), and if the website is any indication, it promises to be an emotional, gritty experience with a tone of desperate wonder set by original music from Sam Spiegel and Asku Matsumiya, similar to Where the Wild Things Are. Click on the "Book Your Ticket" to be taken to a stylistically engineered box office where you can join the list for the online premiere.

The film stars BAFTA winner Andrew Garfield and Eragon's Sienna Guillory, one of Maxim Magazine's "100 Sexiest Women." We tell you this because, as you can see the the preview above, you wouldn't otherwise know.

According to creativity-online, "The piece is TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York's latest addition to the 'Absolut World' campaign and marks an evolution of the brand's longstanding partnership and commitment to the arts, dating back to 1985, when Andy Warhol painted the vodka's distinctive bottle for a now legendary ad, leading to more famous interpretations by talents like Keith Haring and Helmut Newton. 'It's not just another film "brought to you by,"' says Figliulio. 'Absolut has been doing this the whole time.'"

Sundance Institute, Charity of the Day

Although there are plenty of causes, both locally and around the world, that need money for urgent and life-saving purposes, there is something to be said for giving a little energy and money to saving the arts as well. What is the world without beauty and creativity? One such charity is the Sundance Institute, founded by Robert Redford in 1981 as a way to "discover, support, and inspire independent film and theatre artists from the United States and around the world," and to get those works out to audiences. Perhaps most famous for its annual "Sundance Film Festival," the Sundance Institute has many programs and different ways to get involved so get inspired and check it out.

Lindsay Lohan's Luxurious Utah Rehab

ET Online is reporting that Lindsay Lohan has entered rehab for the third time and this time the young starlet has not chosen Promises or any of the other Southern California rehabs. Instead, she is at the rustic Cirque Lodge drug and alcohol rehab in Sundance, Utah. The Cirque Lodge sounds more like some of the estates we have covered than a rehab. The Lodge has a log cabin look and can accommodate 16 residents. Rooms have access to a private bath including a Jacuzzi tub and shower and the bedrooms have fireplaces and views. The main room is a two-story great room with two fireplaces. There is also an exercise room, a media room, a cedar sauna and a circular meditation room on the third floor which is ideal for quiet contemplation. It is reported that Mary-Kate Olsen and David Hasselhoff have both spent time at Cirque and the rehab can cost upwards of $30,000.
