Strand Craft Expands its Ambitions with new 166-ft Megayacht

Earlier this year we brought you plans for the Strand Craft 122, and followed that with particulars of its availability. Now the shipyard has returned with an even bigger, more impressive design.

Measuring 166 feat instead of the 122-foot original, the new Strand express megayacht is every bit as stealthy. Its smooth lines conceal a number of deployable extensions that transform its svelte shape into a haven on water. Like other express yachts, the Strand Craft features a hidden garage at the stern, but instead of housing jet skis or tender craft, the 166 like its smaller sibling houses a bespoke supercar.

Inside there are five staterooms – each 52-inch flat-screen televisions controlled via iPad – a hidden Jacuzzi tub in the bow and much more. See for yourself in the video after the jump and the images in the gallery below.

Strand Craft Yacht & Supercar for Sale at $27.5 Million

Filed under: Yachts & Sailing, Luxury Cars & Autos, Architecture & Design

The Strand Craft 122 superyacht / supercar combo we first told you about back in May has moved beyond the concept stage into a production-ready rocketship. The first example has just been listed for sale by Sweden's Gray Design via global online luxury marketplace JamesList for about $27.5 million, with a slated delivery date of October 2013. The sleek 125-ft. craft will be able to reach a top speed of 55 knots with the use of her optional Rolls-Royce KaMeWa boosters kicking out over 14,000 hp. High gloss mahogany inlays on the foredeck and all-glass atrium covering the cockpit deliver the best facets of both open and closed yachting in one razor sharp high-tech package.

The retro-futuristic Art Deco interior features four large, bedrooms, reception and leather-upholstered salon areas alongside comfortable crew cabins. Elliptical bulletproof windows that stretch halfway across the hull and enough Greek marble to recreate Athens round out the fancy finishes. The specially handcrafted carbon fiber supercar that comes with it is a completely one-off design closely resembling the genetic form and fashion of the mothership. With a rear mounted, 880hp twin-turbo V12 engine it has an estimated 375 km/h top speed and a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds. A hydraulic garage door raises upwards and deploys a retractable ramp to become a dockside driveway.

As near as we can tell, the single biggest issue with the average run-of-the-mill yacht is the distinct lack of storage. No, not so much storage for your clothing or personal goods... we're talking about a garage for that favorite supercar of yours, of course. Strand Craft has taken the issue to heart with its latest design, the 122 Super Yacht.

This creation, which exists only in renderings at the moment, would feature a built-in garage in the stern, which naturally would be filled with a bespoke supercar of its very own. Not much is known about the supposed supercar, other than the fact that it would be powered by an 880-horsepower V12 engine and have a top speed of over 230 miles per hour.

As you might expect, the yacht itself is no slouch in the power or speed departments. In fact, its twin Rolls-Royce engines coupled to the extra Booster engine put out an impressive 14,000 horsepower combined – enough to push the 122 to speeds of 55 knots.
