Steiff's Couture Teddy Bear Captures Karl Lagerfeld

Teddy bears are such a universal item its hard to make one someone wouldn't adore. Growing up there was the Paddington Bear, then Build-A-Bear came along, but the most recent creation, which makes a truly unique (and expensive!) mark on the history of stuffed bears, is the Karl Lagerfeld teddy bear made by Steiff. Touted as a 'master of luxury', Karl Lagerfeld may be seen by many as the quintessential choice for a luxury bear that costs upwards of $14,000 and will be sold at Neiman Marcus this September in NYC. I think the bear could be mistaken as one of the Men In Black if you don't follow the design industry but either way it is cool, chic, and totally original.

Selfridges's Luxurious New Wares For Christmas

London department store Selfridges in London has unveiled their luxurious new Christmas offerings which will go on sale starting next month. The store is releasing their first toy collection which is topped by a limited edition Steiff teddy bear that will have eyes of emeralds surrounded by diamonds, a 24K gold snout and fur that is entwined with gold leaf. The bear comes with a Mont Blanc pen with an ink pot filled with liquid gold. The bear will be made to order ith an example sitting in a glass box in Selfridge's flagship London store and will cost
£43,000.

Other items in the Selfridges Christmas collection include a £15,000 cashmere dressing gown, jeweled Champagne bottles and an Alexander McQueen that costs £29,530 and resembles a Faberge egg.

80th Anniversary Winnie-The-Pooh

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the publishing of A.A. Milne's children's classic, Winnie-the-Pooh, Steiff has released a limited edition, plush Pooh bear. The bear is the largest yet made by the company and is 32-in. tall. He is made with blonde mohair fur and wears a suede vest. The details are hand-sewn. Only 1,000 of the fully jointed bears were produced, making them highly collectible for Steiff fans, as well as for fans of the book. Price: $775.
