Westmoreland Place, Estate of the Day

I love the older homes of St. Louis, Missouri but they don't seem to be selling well. The last one I featured back in June is still one the market even with a $500,000 price cut (now down to $2.5 million). Today's home is similar in style. It's a Georgian-revival brick home built in 1908 and designed by the architectural firm of Mainer & laBeaume. It's been well remodeled without giving it too much of a charmectomy. The listing says the home has been featured in several home design publications. The home includes a kitchen with a butler's pantry and a master suite with a large bed/sitting room, study with fireplace, dressing room, master bathroom with heated slate floor, whirlpool tub, separate free-standing glass shower, double basin sinks with slate countertops and exercise room. Also on the second floor is a guest bedroom and laundry and the third floor has additional bedrooms and bathrooms. The property also includes a two-car garage with guest/staff quarters and a private, landscaped garden with pool. It is listed at $2.4 million.

Lambert House, Estate of the Day

Today's home in St. Louis, Missouri is a vintage treasure. The home was designed by architect George W. Hellmuth and constructed in 1902. It was commissioned by aviation pioneer Albert Bond Lambert, one of the financial backers of Charles Lindbergh's historic transatlantic flight. The home has 23 rooms with six bedrooms and has been lovingly updated without losing the vintage charm. The home has been restored with historically correct wood paneling, replacement windows, ceiling fixtures and art glass windows. You don't get much land here, just a small garden but for $3 million for a historical mansion you can't have everything.

St. Louis seems ready for its condo boom (or at least the developers think so). A few months ago I mentioned a couple of condo projects in Clayton, Missouri, Now comes news of a lavish project in St. Louis. The Private Residences of Chase Park Plaza will take over 18 floors of the 30-story Park Plaza Tower of The Chase Park Plaza. The 87 residences will include outdoor terraces, private storage, modern furnishings, soundproof walls, access to a lavish health spa and fitness center, dog-walking, concierge and dry cleaning services. Basically the condos are seeking to mimic the big city experience of New York or Chicago. And at some big city prices too. The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza will range from 1,020 square feet to 4,217 square feet and list for $395,000 to $5.8 million. The first homes are expected to be ready next summer

During the season, every sports fan wants a crystal ball - preferably one that will help them pick the winners for the rest of the year. This crystal ball does not have those powers of prediction, but it might be even better if you are a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Made of fully-leaded crystal from Waterford, the St. Louis 2006 World Series Commemorative Baseball celebrates the team's victory over the Detroit Tigers. A limited number of the hand-carved balls will be made, and each will be individually numbered and packed with a certificate of authenticity. Price $165.
