Jay Cutler Has Some Real Estate To Unload In Colorado

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler hasn't put down permanent roots in Chicago yet. The Chicago Tribune reports that he is currently renting a three-bedroom house in Lake Forest for $3,750 a month. Cutler does have some real estate in Colorado he is trying to unload. He was traded to the Bears from the Broncos in April and has a pair of homes in Colorado up for sale.

His main home appears to have been a four-bedroom house in Parker, Colorado which he purchased in 2005 for $1.34 million. The home is in a community called Timbers and sits on 1.5 acres of land. Outside the home there is a seating area, patio, bar and fire pit. Inside the home has all the usual luxurious features like a a wine room, gourmet kitchen and great room with massive fireplace. Bachelor-friendly details include a billiard room with a complete wet bar, home theater, a poker room and a bathroom that features a urinal facing a poster of Marilyn Monroe. This home is listed at $1.675 million.

Cutler also owns a five acre property in Elizabeth, Colorado that is for sale for $699,900.

Dan Marino In Weston, Florida, Estate of the Day

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

Add another to our list of slow-selling celebrities (sports stars edition). Dan Marino has had his Weston, Florida compound on the market for around three years. It was once listed at $15.9 million but now, as the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties reports, the famous quarterback will throw in $1.5 million worth of designer furniture and a signed football, too. Marino and his wife Claire are now asking $13.5 million for the 15,000-square-foot Tuscan home. The couple is looking to downsize but it has been slow going.

The Mediterranean-style villa is on a four-acre spot in the Windmill Ranch Estates community. It is surrounded by a lake with fresh bass. The home's large pool area connects the main house with other areas. The property has two guest houses, staff quarters, an exercise room and a wine cellar. There are ten bedrooms total. Even with the over $2 million discount it may take Marino a while longer to sell this home.

Tom Preissing In Manhattan Beach, Estate of the Day

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

Sometimes I wonder if a business card for Manhattan Beach real estate agent Ed Kaminzky comes with every professional sports star's welcome to Los Angeles package because so Los Angeles sports celebrities end up in Manhattan Beach townhomes. Of course once they leave the team there is some selling to do. And so Los Angeles Kings defenseman Tom Preissing has put his four-bedroom townhouse on the market after being assigned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. The home has an enviable spot just a few blocks from the water and boasts some lovely ocean views. The Spanish style home doesn't have much going on in the way of decor but it is a blank slate for any future owners. As the listing puts it, the home is good as new. It has a reverse floorplan to maximize the views and access to the large deck. The main floor master suite has a private deck. There is a two-car garage plus a guest/beach car parking space. This home is listed at $2.15 million.

I decided to take this opportunity to see the trio of sports stars I covered that were selling in Manhattan Beach last fall. Baseball pitcher Derek Lowe has dropped the price on his home which we covered last September. It was then listed at $5.7 million and is now at $4.599 million. A bit of an ouch considering that Lowe bought for $5 million in 2006. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez has kept his four-bedroom home at the same price of $3.999 million. He bought in 2003 for $1.575 million. Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jason Kendall took his $$7.3 million home off the market but doesn't appear to have sold it.
