BMW M3 Matte Editon for China

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

BMW M3 Matte Edition

While some automakers roll out special editions around the entire globe, the BMW Group has of late opted to create individual specials for specific markets. Witness, as examples, the Trusardi edition 5GT (exclusive to Italy), the Z4 Silver Top edition (Japan), the M3 Pure edition (Australia) and the M3 Frozen Gray edition (United States). BMW's subsidiaries Mini and Rolls-Royce have followed the same formula with the Mini Cooper Mat Edition (France) and Yas Eagle edition Phantom (Abu Dhabi), and now BMW has announced a new special edition M3 exclusive to China.

The M3 Matte Edition packs the same V8 engine and everything else as the standard model, but is distinguished by its special matte black paint scheme, offset by black chrome trim and high-gloss 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside there's carbon fiber and red trim, but you'll have to live in China and act fast to get your hands on one.

BMW Z4 Silver Top Edition

If you live in Japan and have an extra 6 million yen just kicking around, you might want to contact your local BMW dealer, because the German automaker's Japanese importer has just announced a rather enticing special edition.

It's called the Silver Top edition, and is based on the Z4 sDrive23i. It's powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six with a six-speed automatic transmission, but what sets it apart is the color combination: A silver retractable hard-top (with matching door mirrors) contrasting the black body and a red leather interior. Gorgeous, but it's only available in Japan and only 15 examples will be made.

Grey Goose Vodka Magnum by Chopard

If you're looking for a premium vodka, it doesn't get much more up-market than Grey Goose. Though not without its share of challengers, the French vodka has earned itself a solid place atop the vodka market. But of course there's always someone looking for something a little more special. And for just such a market, the Grey Goose has teamed up with Swiss watchmaker and jeweler Chopard on a very exclusive limited edition bottle.

Limited to just ten examples, Chopard has encaged a magnum of Grey Goose –complete with a glimmering goose, wings aspread, atop a sparkling globe –in a silver cage. Don't like it too much, though, because those ten examples – available exclusively from Colette – are sure to be snapped up rather quickly, even at a €600 ($815) asking price.

Fortunately for those missing out, the special Chopard bottle can be had without the silver cage for a (relatively) more reasonable €350.

Caterham Seven Lambretta Special Edition

Caterham Seven Lambretta Special Edition

Few icons are as quintessentially British as the Union Jack and the Caterham Seven. Originally engineered by Lotus, the 7 is still built by British sportscar-maker Caterham, and has now been outfitted for a special edition by British fashion house Lambretta.

The special Seven features a Union Jack motif, complemented inside by a red, white and blue color scheme. Power comes from a modest 1.6-liter Ford inline-four with 125 horsepower driving through a five-speed manual transmission. Which may not sound like much, but given the Caterham's low curb weight, it's still enough to drive it to 60 in six seconds flat.

The Caterham Seven Lambretta Special Edition sells in the UK for £26,995, equivalent to about $42k.

Jaguar Releases XKR Special Editions for Geneva Show

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Falling under Ford's Premier Auto Group umbrella as Jaguar did for years carried certain benefits, but it also kept the cat at bay. With Aston Martin looming overhead in the same group, there was only so high Jaguar could take its XK coupe without encroaching on Aston's territory. Now that Aston's gone independent and Jaguar, together with Land Rover, was bought by Indian automaker Tata Motors, the cat's out of the bag.

As a result, the XKR keeps getting faster and faster, more and more expensive and all the more desirable for it. In the latest development, Jaguar is preparing the tantalizing XKR Special Editions. For starters, output from the supercharged V8 engine is up to 510 horsepower. That's supercar territory, make no mistake about it. The special editions come in two flavors: the Speed Pack, with a top end of 174 miles per hour, and the Black Pack, which gives the XKR a set of glossy 20" wheels and extra black trim all around. The new special Jags will be unveiled at the fast-approaching Geneva show, so stay tuned.

Infiniti Europe presents FX Limited Edition

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Opportunity knocks but once. Or so the saying goes. But that might need some revision, because Infiniti has come around again with another opportunity for those who missed theirs to buy the FX Millionaire Edition.

Like the Millionaire, the FX Limited Edition can be ordered in scratch-resistant Obsidian Black or White Moonlight paint. It features a host of special touches inside and out, from the dark graphite trim and 21" turbine-shaped rims to the Alcantara and carbon fiber trim on the interior. It comes with all the options. Only 100 will be made, and they'll only be available in Europe.

Fortunately for European customers, the pricing is significantly more attractive – about $46,000 more attractive, in the case of the range-topping, V8-engined FX50S Limited Edition, which sells for £62,035, with the V6-powered FX37S Limited Edition coming in at a more attainable £55,855.

Seiko Galante Spring Drive 5th Anniversary Special Edition Watch

Wow, has it already been five years of deprivation from this awesome watch? Only in Japan can you (officially) get one of these very cool timepieces. This is the Galante Spring Drive watch. Galante is a Seiko sub brand, and has been spicing things up for Seiko in Japan for the "youthfully stylish - but wealthy" demographic. I understand that they are growing in popularity there.

The Galante watches are far from just image. These are extremely well constructed and designed, hand assembled watches that include the very impressive (and accurate) Seiko Spring Drive mechanical hybrid movements. They are the best of what Seiko offers and are considered by many to be a modern pinnacle of mechanical watch making.

I haven't handled this specific 5th Anniversary Special Edition model, but have handled very similar Galante watches on the metal bracelet. I was quite wowed by them, especially given the jewelry-like quality and feel of the steel bracelet. The design as I said is youthful and inspired, with unique decoration. As you can see, the rotating bezel is engraved with a form of floral decoration, and if you look closely on the dial, you can make out the forms for roses (as see from the side) that are part of the dial design.

The watch is nicely sized at 44.5mm wide, and houses the Seiko 5R66 Spring Drive movement that includes the time, power reserve indicator, date, and GMT hand. Seiko makes sure that each of its luxury watches are a complete timepiece package. Meaning they are well made, function well, and look good. Price is gonna be over $5,000 (not sure of exact amount) and as far as I know you'll have to contact a Japanese Seiko dealer if you want one.

March of the Veyrons: One-of-a-Kind Pegaso Edition Bugatti For Sale

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

It would appear that our earlier report on the quantity of Bugatti Veyrons going up for sale was only the tip of the iceberg, as a seemingly endless succession of special-edition versions of the million-euro supercar have been showing up on the marketplace. First we spotted a Pur Sang edition, one of only five, put up for sale in Abu Dhabi. Then we reported on yet another one on offer from Frankfurt. But if 2 out of 5 of that production run wasn't exclusive enough, now an even more unique example is up for grabs, provided you have the cash.

The Pegaso edition was made as a special model for one wealthy Eastern European oil baron living at the prestigious Burj al Arab development in Dubai, which you may recognize as the world's only seven-star hotel. The Pegaso was commissioned in tribute to the custom workshop in Spain that transformed several Ferraris and Alfa Romeos of note during the 1950's, and is differentiated by a unique contrasting white-over-red paint scheme and custom interior. It is on offer for €1.85 million, which may seem like a huge premium over the million-euro sticker price for a new example, but looks like a bargain compared to the $3 million being asked for that second Pur Sang edition.

Bugatti to Celebrate 100th Anniversary with Quartet of Special-Edition Veyron Centenaires at Lake Como

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Hard to believe that with owners selling off their unique Veyrons, Bugatti is still producing new special editions. But so the case would appear to be as the most premium of premium automotive marques gears up to celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend with not one, but four new versions of its seven-figure supercar.

Following up on the one-off Bleu Centenaire edition which Bugatti unveiled at the Geneva show last month, the new Centenaire edition is scheduled to debut at the prestigious Villa d'Este auto show on the shores of Lake Como where, as we reported earlier, Ralph Lauren will also be demonstrating his very special Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic to commemorate the marque's centenary. Each of the Veyron Centenaires pays tribute to one of Bugatti's pre-WWII driving aces, each hailing from a different country and represented by a different color: Sir Malcolm Campell's in British Racing Green, Achille Varzi in Italian Racing Red, Jean-Pierre Wimille in French Racing Blue (Bugatti's signature color) and Hermann zu Leiningen in an off-white to represent Germany. No word yet on pricing, but prospective buyers can expect to pay an extra premium over the – ahem – "ordinary" Veyron's million-euro asking price. Stay tuned for more.

Versace Edition Lamborghini Murciélago

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

This is one gorgeous car. It is the standard Lamborghini Murciélago LP640, with a bit of cosmetic enhancement, courtesy of a partnership with Versace. It has a white exterior, black interior and white seats. Most of the interior features Versace's signature Greek Key design, a geometric spiral that complements the angles of the car very well. This is a limited edition, and there is a plaque on the console that bears both the Versace and Lamborghini logos, as well as the edition number.

More pics are after the jump.

Bulgari Special Edition Flower Sunglasses

The Bulgari special edition Flower Sunglasses hit all the hot sunglass style points of the moment. They have black acetate wrap-around frames, large lenses and are loaded with sparking Swarovski crystals. The flower detailing makes them unique in the bling department, since many other sunglass designs this season took a more abstract approach to their ornamentation. Variations on the theme include glasses without frames and colored frames, like the pair shown here in Bordeaux. The lens shades vary slightly with each color. To get a pair yourself, look for a retailer in your area.
