Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel Sold To Pebblebrook Hotel Trust

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Real Estate Developments

We've been watching the Pebblebrook Hotel Trust gobble up hotels left and right lately. The latest is the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel which it picked up for $87 million. The Center City hotel is in a historic building that once housed the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and is located near the Philadelphia Convention Center. It was converted to a hotel in 2000 and has 306 elegantly appointed guestrooms, including 68 suites. The hotel includes on-site underground parking, a fitness center, a breakfast-only restaurant and the newly renovated bar/lounge Liberté, which serves cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and light dinner fare. In 2009, the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel operated at approximately 77% occupancy, with an average daily rate of approximately $169. The hotel will continue to be managed by Sofitel.

Last month the Pebblebrook Hotel Trust bought the Sheraton Delfina Santa Monica Hotel in Santa Monica, California for $102.8 million. Other Pebblebrook hotels include the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, the InterContinental Buckhead in Atlanta, the Hotel Monaco in Washington DC. Back in October we mentioned that the Pebblebrook Hotel Trust had picked up the Grand Hotel in Minneapolis for $33 million.

Tourneau Watch Sample Sale In Los Angeles

For the first time ever in Los Angeles, the Tourneau watch store is having a special sample sale from March 10th - 14th, 2010. This has been going on for a few years at the New York City store (which apparently has people lining up around the corner for the potential deals). Many of the famous brands that Tourneau carries will have models on sale from 50-70% off (this excludes at least Rolex & Patek Philippe). Available watches are "sample" pieces or pre-owned watches - meaning that they consist of the ones in the displays I believe. Most of the time they are in more or less perfect condition (just handled by people, and given a cleaning). As well as pre-owed watches that Tourneau is known for offering.

The sale can get pretty crowded, so it is best to be there on one of the first days. The Tourneau watch sample sale will, again, be held from 10:00am to 7:00pm on Wednesday March 10th through Sunday March 14th at the Los Angeles Tourneau store located in the Hotel Sofitel (8555 Beverly Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90048). Contact the store for additional details.

Sofitel Moorea Beach Resort

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Spas

Never heard of Moorea? That just might be a good thing. After all, by the time an idyllic island paradise becomes a household name it is often overrun with resorts and tourists. Moorea is a sister island to the French Polynesian island of Bora Bora. The island was the setting for the Mel Gibson movie The Bounty and boasts calm turquoise seas, white sand beaches and lush mountain scenery. The Sofitel Moorea Beach Resort opened last November and just finished their spa. The hotel is composed of 114 bungalows including 19 over water bungalows with indoor/outdoor rainfall showers, dive off decks, and in-floor viewing windows to the sea below. The resort is also home to a sandy floor, open air restaurant called "K" which has Tahitian dancers performing nightly. The spa has seven treatment rooms with two VIP suites that have hydrotherapy rooms and separate showers. The spa uses local ingredients such as monoi oil, tamanu oil, coconut, papaya and Moorea sand in the treatments. Prices for paradise start at 271 euros. After the jump, an interior shot of one of the bungalows that shows the infloor viewing platform (it's like sleeping in your own glass bottom boat).
