Six Senses Spa In Crete

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Spas

The Six Senses Spas are always extraordinarily luxurious getaways in fabulous places such as the Maldives, Dubai and Thailand. They have now taken on the naturally gorgeous island of Crete, the rocky Greek island rich in history and beautiful scenery. The Six Senses Spa at Porto Elounda, Crete, is located high on a cliff overlooking a the Aegean Sea. Each Six Senses Spa has a unique feel to it. This spa gets its inspiration from the environment, the Greek past and contemporary Greek culture. It has a marble pond with murals of Greek painter Paniaras and a central staircase that wraps around a helix-shaped glass sculpture by Greek sculptor Kostas Varotsos. The use of marble and wide oval skylights combined with modern art give the spa an updated temple-like feel.

The spa's 23 treatment areas include thalassotherapy suites, couples rooms, a hassam, caldarium, Finnish sauna and a cold plunge pool. The hydropool with bubbling heated seawater has indoor and outdoor areas for enjoying the view. The signature treatment at the spa is a three hour experience that includes a body exfoliation with Cretan olive stones, seaweed body wrap, an antioxidant facial with bio-olive and tomato, a massage and a marine salt bath. It costs 220 euros.

Treetop Dining In The Maldives

Filed under: Dining, Luxury Travel & Hotels

sonveva fushiIf you are in a remote location why not have a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience? A few days ago I mentioned dining by the four elements, now at the Six Senses Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives you can enjoy the ultimate Robinson Crusoe dining experience. This new dining experience is more than thirteen feet above the organic garden with views across the jungle. You arrive through the jungle and then climb up a stairway to a suspended rope and plank bridge that leads to the restaurant platform. In the center of the main platform, which holds eight tables with daybeds, there is a sunken kitchen. A walkway off the main platform leads to a tower with a bathroom which has a glass wall for treetop views. There is also a tower-topped observatory with a telescope. The menu at the organic garden restaurant changes daily.
