The Six Senses Spas are always extraordinarily luxurious getaways in fabulous places such as the Maldives, Dubai and Thailand. They have now taken on the naturally gorgeous island of Crete, the rocky Greek island rich in history and beautiful scenery. The Six Senses Spa at Porto Elounda, Crete, is located high on a cliff overlooking a the Aegean Sea. Each Six Senses Spa has a unique feel to it. This spa gets its inspiration from the environment, the Greek past and contemporary Greek culture. It has a marble pond with murals of Greek painter Paniaras and a central staircase that wraps around a helix-shaped glass sculpture by Greek sculptor Kostas Varotsos. The use of marble and wide oval skylights combined with modern art give the spa an updated temple-like feel.The spa's 23 treatment areas include thalassotherapy suites, couples rooms, a hassam, caldarium, Finnish sauna and a cold plunge pool. The hydropool with bubbling heated seawater has indoor and outdoor areas for enjoying the view. The signature treatment at the spa is a three hour experience that includes a body exfoliation with Cretan olive stones, seaweed body wrap, an antioxidant facial with bio-olive and tomato, a massage and a marine salt bath. It costs 220 euros.
