Sharon Stone's Basic Instinct is to Sell

Add actress Sharon Stone to the list of head-scratching home owners trying to navigate their way through the real estate market this recession. She has re-listed a Beverly Hills mansion at $8,995,000 that she bought in 2006 for $10,995,0000. She originally had it on the market at $10 million, took it off and offered it on a $58,000 a month lease. That didn't happen either, although she did get a nothing-to-sneeze-at $35,000 a month for it. And now she's decided to list it at below what she paid. She never moved into the property, although she had at one point intended to remodel it and do precisely that. The seven-bedroom Mediterranean estate sits on almost five acres at the end of a private road. There is a resort-style lagoon pool and a north-south tennis court. Stone, who was married to newspaperman Phil Bronson until 2004, starred in the erotic thriller "Basic Instinct." The listing agent is Valerie Fitzgerald of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills. Fitzgerald is also in charge of sales for the Carlyle on Wilshire project.

Sharon Stone Has A New Gig

Sharon Stone may have gotten in trouble with Dior over her remarks on China recently, but she can still bring in the gigs. Jeweler Damiani has announced that Stone will be their new face. The new ad campaign for the diamond seller celebrates women throughout history starting with Eve up through Ameilia Earhart and today's modern women. Silvia Damiani, who is a longtime friend of Sharon Stone, introduced the new campaign, which was shot on March 20th by photographer Solve Sundsbo, at a press event in Beverly Hills this week.

Sharon Stone Dropped by Dior

Despite her recent public apology Sharon Stone's comments about her belief that the earthquake in China is possibly linked to "bad karma" haven't finished causing her embarrassment yet. Now she's losing her advertising gig with Dior over the incident as they've issued their own apology for Sharon's comments and are pulling her from their suddenly very unpopular Chinese advertising campaigns.

It's amazing how fast things can change, considering Sharon was previously fairly well-received in China and is now considered by them to be "the public enemy of all mankind." That's never good.

--Former talk show host Dick Cavett is selling 77 acres of oceanfront property in Montauk for $30 million. Cavett has owned the property for about 30 years.
--A full-floor co-op residence at 2 E. 67th St. has it the market for $34.9 million. The eight-bedroom unit in the Rosario Candela-designed building belongs to Greek shipping billionaire Michael Lemos. The listing is here.
--The former Bluhdorn estate in Bedford, NY first hit the market for $42 million a couple years ago. Now the property which has been trimmed to 25 acres and includes a 10-bedroom mansion is listed at $20 million. Check out the listing here.
--Movie producer Bob Weinstein, the older brother and partner of Harvey Weinstein has paid $1.05 million for a street-level co-op on West 67th Street between Central Park West and Broadway which he bought as a personal investment.

About a year ago I profiled Belle Epoque, the Montecito mansion of Norm Waitt Jr., co-founder of Gateway personal computers, as an estate of the day. He's been trying to sell the home for a while now, dropping the price all the way to $19.7 million with no results. Now he's auctioning it off through Sheldon Good & Co. via sealed bid. All sealed bids must be submitted by 3 p.m. on June 25 and Waitt has the right to accept, reject or negotiate with any and all bidders.

Sharon Stone Gets Glammed Up in Chopard for Basic Instinct 2

Sharon Stone's long-delayed return to the big screen in" Basic Instinct 2" might be worth watching for the lux-spotting alone. A while ago we learned that Stone would be driving a Spyker C8 Laviolette Spyder in the movie. Now comes the news that she will be decked out in Chopard jewels. Chopard is the official jeweler for the movie and Sharon will be wearing the Strada XXL diamond watch shown here, a pair of white-gold Ice Cube rings with diamonds, a diamond ring with a heart-sized pink diamond at its center and diamond and aquamarine earrings. Maybe all the diamonds will distract us from the fact that we will be watching mutton dressed as lamb.
