Malibu Beach House, Estate of the Day

Today's Malibu, California beach home has a bit of celebrity provenance, this beach home high up on a bluff was once owned by rock star and restaurateur Sammy Hagar. Hagar's former beach house has enviable waterviews. A rustic seaside garden leads to a staircase and the beach below. A sundeck on the bluff edge includes a hot tub and lounging area. The home itself has a funky and distinctive look that harks back to an older Malibu style when it was a surf-driven beach community rather than a celebrity enclave. There are beamed ceilings, a pitched roof, polished teak floors and fireplaces that look like they've seen a lot of use on foggy nights. The home has six bedrooms including a truly stellar master suite. The expansive suite has a fireplace and sitting area and a balcony that opens out to the ocean. The current decor is a bit eccentric in some places. The combination of a pot rack and greenery in the kitchen is the type of decorating move that makes the Real Estalker call for nerve pills. Overall though, this is a beautiful and private abode. It is listed at $10.9 million.

Sammy Hagar's Airport Beach Bar

Rocker Sammy Hagar may have missed out on the lucrative Van Halen concert tour but let's not feel too bad for old Sammy, he just clinched a new restaurant deal. While other celebs such as Ashton Kutcher and Jamie Kennedy who are part of the Dolce restaurant group or Danny DeVito who recently opened an Italian restaurant in South Beach have gone upscale, Sammy's restaurant will be located in the Kahului Airport in Maui.

Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill will serve American fare with an island twist in a beach-themed restaurant that will include signed memorabilia from Hagar's own personal collection. There will also be a full bar serving fresh fruit cocktails (and presumably plenty of his tequila). Here's a good reason to check out Sammy's Beach Bar when it opens in 2008, 100% of Sammy Hagar's profits from the restaurant chain will be donated to local Hawaii charities via the Red Rocker Foundation, an organization Hagar and his wife Kari are establishing to help support children's organizations.

Cabo Uno Tequila

I've been a fan of Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo tequila for a while, now the musician's company has introduced a new premium version, Cabo Uno Tequila Añejo Reserva. The tequila is aged 38 months in oak casks and the company plans to only produce around 1,800 cases per year. The tequila comes in a lead-free crystal decanter and boxed in wood and leather. The premium tequila can be found for around $200.
