Rue McClanahan's New York City Apartment Up For Sale

rue mcclanahanActress Rue McClanahan died earlier this month and her New York City apartment is already on the market. The NY Times Big Deal column reports that the three-bedroom co-op belonging to "The Golden Girls" star has been listed with Steven Marvisch of Brown Harris Stevens for $2.25 million. The apartment at 430 East 56th Street has a south facing private garden and overlooks private tennis courts.

The home has a large master suite with plenty of closet space. The spacious living room has floor to ceiling windows and doors leading to the garden. A dining room, kitchen and office round out the space. The Times article points out that the apartment is full of quirky details like a door disguised as a spice rack that leads to a bathroom behind the kitchen and the door to the office that is sculptured to look as though a naked woman was walking through it, her hand is the doorknob and her head and one breast peek into the hallway while on the other side of the door her rear curves into the room.
