Billionaire's Ball Brings Record Haul

Billionaire John Caudwell is famous for his habit of hiring famous singers to entertain his friends and family but he's also been known to put that energy toward a good cause, his own children's charity. His annual Butterfly Ball for Caudwell Children attracted UK celebrities and brought in a record £1.7 million, pretty impressive in a down economy. The total was £300,000 over last year's haul.

Rod Stewart performed at the event that was also attended by Elizabeth Hurley, Rachel Stevens and Bruce Forsythe. Wealth Bulletin has a quote from John Caudwell, shown above at the event with his girlfriend Claire Johnson. Caudwell said, "It is heart-warming to see that despite the current economic climate people are still prepared to help the less fortunate."

Rod Stewart's Ferrari & Lamborghini Up for Auction

On March 12 London-based auction house Coys will sell two supercars from pop star Rod Stewart's personal collection. The first is a 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica (above), the other a 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Stewart is a longtime exotic auto enthusiast, and has owned a number of Ferraris. Back in October we reported that his Ferrari F430 Spider was for sale as well. His limited edition Ferrari 575 Superamerica, of which only 559 were made, is finished in classic red with a cream leather interior, has just 2,788 miles on it and is estimated at £70,000 - £85,000, or about $100,000 - $120,000. The Lamborghini is finished in baby blue with a blue and white leather interior, has just 2,243 miles and is estimated at £55,000 - £70,000, or about $80,000 - $100,000.

Rolls, Ferrari & Bugatti in Boca Raton Auction

On Jan. 1 - 4, Kruse International will auction off almost 1,000 cars at the Boca Raton South Florida Collector Car Auction, held at the Royal Palm Polo Club. There are several valuable and notable autos on offer, including the 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith with coachwork by H.J. Mulliner from the 1981 Dudley Moore movie Arthur (above), estimated at $200,000. Other big ticket items include a 1972 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Landault, one of only five built and formerly the official car of the President of Gabon in Africa, est. at $2 million; a brand new 2009 Bugatti Veyron, est. at $1.7 million; a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, est. at $1.3 million; a 1973 Ferrari Daytona Spyder, formerly the property of Rod Stewart, est. at $600,000; and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, est. at $450,000. Rod Stewart's Ferrari F430 Spider for Sale

Superstar singer Rod Stewart's red Ferrari F430 Spider (above) is for sale in the UK. Stewart is a longtime Ferrari enthusiast who changes models every few years; before the F430 he had a bright yellow 575 Maranello grand tourer V12, and he was also one of the first to buy an Enzo. The F430 is equipped with a 4.3-liter V8 producing 483 h.p., for a 0-60 mph time of 4 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph.

The bodywork of Stewart's F430 is finished in classic red with a cream leather interior, red contrast stitching and carpets, and a carbon fiber dashboard. The car, which has only 6,800 miles on the odometer, cost $245,000 when Stewart purchased it new in 2005, and is now being offered for $150,000. Not bad for a Ferrari with a pedigree from one of the top ten biggest-selling artists in recording history. The UK Auto Trader has the listing.

Rod Stewart's New French Getaway

Rod Stewart and finacée Penny Lancaster have ended a four-year search for the perfect house (in addition to Stewarts properties in Beverly Hills, Essex and Palm Beach), buying a £3.3 million ($6.3 million) estate in a village near Nice, France. The house is set on about an acre in the hills over Nice, looking out towards the coast with "stunning views", and has four bedrooms, a nursery, a swimming pool and spa, indoor gym and a theater. Rod and Penny plan to be married there later this year.
