Get our your kilt and whisky it will soon be time to celebrate Robert Burns, the eternal Scottish bard. Each year Burns fans gather for Burns suppers to celebrate his birth on January 25 1759. The tradition of the suppers has been going on in Scotland for years but has spread to the U.S. with many groups offering Burns Suppers. It's a great excuse to read poetry, listen to bagpipe playing, eat Scottish food, wear kilts and drink whisky. The evening is a celebration not just of the poet but of the finer things in life, good humor, good music, good food and good booze. Here is just a small sample of the planned festivities:

In La Crosse, Wisconsin, the 33rd annual Robert Burns Supper will be on January 23 at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center and will include band and ensemble performances by La Crosse and District Pipes and Drums. Tickets are $40.
