From the LA Times Hot Properties:
--Pickfair, , shown above, the home of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, is one of the most famous estates in Los Angeles. The original home was designed by California architect Wallace Neff in 1919 and visitors to the home ranged from George Bernard Shaw, Albert Einstein, H.G. Wells, Amelia Earhart, F. Scott Fitzgerald to Joan Crawford and Noel Coward. Pickford lived in the mansion until her death in 1979. It was later bought by Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss and then owned by actress Pia Zadora and her husband, Meshulam Riklis who built a new, larger mansion. They sold in 2005 (it was for sale for $27.5 million in 2004) and now the 17-bedroom home is up for sale for $60 million. The listing is here.
--Actress Jane SIbbett and her husband Karl Fink have sold their Topanga horse property, Trust Ranch, for $4.25 million. It was originally listed at $7 million about a year ago and was at $5.2 million when it was our estate of the day back in May.
--George Hamilton recently bought along the Wilshire Corridor wrote into the purchase offer that the seller, who runs a popular bakery, had to keep him in cookies for a year.
--Kevin Spacey has bought a new loft in the e Biscuit Co. Lofts for $1.2 million. The loft is for Trigger Street Productions, his production company, to create low-budget feature films and independent products.
--Doctor/Author Vladimir Lange's and his wife, Marilyn, have listed their five-bedroom, four-bathroom home in the Sunset Strip area for $6.2 million.The property website is here.
--Sports marketing guru Sonny Vaccaro has listed his 6,200-square-foot home in a gated Calabasas community for $2.399 million. The listing is here.
--Cinematographer Newton T. "Tom" Sigel has put his Malibu home on the market for $7.995 million. It's our estate of the day later today.

From the NY Post's Gimme Shelter:
--Jimmy Choo co-founder Tamara Mellon has just paid $20 million for Edgar Bronfman Jr.'s condo in the Carhart mansion on East 95th Street.
--Kiefer Sutherland has picked up a circa-1830s Greek Revival townhouse in the West Village for $8.2 million.
--More and more Plaza condos are showing up back on the market including a two-bedroom unit on the sixth floor, a 15th floor two-bedroom for $12.5 million and a one-bedroom on the 16th floor for $3.35 million.
--The listing for Tommy Hilfiger's $50 million apartment at the Plaza is up. The listing is here.

--Film producer Robert Chartoff and his wife Vanessa have put their Cliff May-designed home in Malibu on the market for $8.75 million. The listing is here.
--Richie Sambora has picked up a three-bedroom apartment at Two Liberty Place in Philadelphia.
--Film producer Andrew Lazar has put his five-bedroom Tuscan-style home in Los Angeles on the market for $6.95 million. The listing is here.
--Brothers and former child actors Rider and Shiloh Strong have put their home on Wonderland Ave in Los Angeles on the market for $1.26 million. The listing is here.


From the NY Observer's Manhattan Transfers:
--Zinc magnate Bill Flaherty and his wife Tina are in the midst of a messy divorce which may lead to the sale of their penthouse at 1040 Fifth Avenue which could get over $30 million.
--A new record could be set in Tribeca with the sale of the penthouse at 145 Hudson Street which has has gone to contract. It was listed at $34.5 million, the current record stands at $33.15 million.
--Director Joel Schumacher has picked up a $1.36 million apartment at 25 Fifth Avenue.
--The Observer checked out 11 Spring Street, a 19th century building being renovated by Caroline Cummings, the 27-year-old who bought 11 Spring from Rupert Murdoch's elder son, Lachlan, exactly two years ago for $12 million. The 4,600-square-foot penthouse has been on the market at $17.95 million for over a year, just like the $15.15 million triplex downstairs and a $6.7 million flat in between.
--Russian financier Andrei Vavilov is suing the Plaza's developers to get back a $10.7 million deposit plus interest and damages back on a two-unit penthouse that he was set to purchase for $53.5 million. He says he was a victim of bait and switch.

From Berg Properties Celebrity Big Time Listings:
--Brad Pitt aid $1,287,500 in April to purchase a 1,534-square-foot house in Los Feliz that's adjacent to his existing compound.
--Public records show that tennis star Pete Sampras got $16.98 million for the Beverly Hills mansion he had early this year for $25 million.
--Mary Steenburgen and her 25-year-old son Charlie McDowell (Malcolm McDowell is his father) have paid $550,000 for an 886-square-foot condominium unit in West Hollywood.

From Newsday's Real LI:
--Ross Klein, who was recently president of the luxury brands group of Starwood Hotels and is now global head of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Hotels is selling his two-bedroom home in Bellport, NY. The home is a 1954 Weyerhaeuser kit house, which Klein restored and decorated with mid-century modern pieces and is listed at $799,000. The listing is here.
The estate of Masterpiece Theatre's Alistair Cooke has put his home in Cutchogue, New York on the market for $5.2 million. The listing for the home is here.


From the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties:
--The Wall Street Journal takes a look at Willem Dafoe's rubber house in upstate New York. It is still listed for $850,000 and was our estate of the day back in June.
--The 3,000-acre Santa Fe estate of the late Richard L. Fisher, a New York real-estate developer and philanthropist, has sold for slightly more than its $15.5 million asking price. We looked at this one way back in 2005 when it was listed at $14.5 million.
--Turns out the owner of Cher's former Key Biscayne property is entrepreneur and film producer Sean Wolfington and his wife, Ana, for $8.8 million in May 2006. They listed the six-bedroom, 7,300-square-foot house a month later but dropped the price to $11.9 million in October 2006 and it is now at $12.9 million which is the price it was at when we covered it as an estate of the day last month.

From the NY Observer's Manhattan Transfers:
--The official listings for Julian Schnabel's Palazzo Chupi have hit the market. We covered these listings as our estate of the day recently but the listings have a few more pictures. The $32 million listing is here and the $27 million listing is here.
--Springsteen guitarist and Sopranos star Steven Van Zandt and wife Maureen have closed on a three-bedroom penthouse in a converted Methodist church at 135 West Fourth Street for $6 million.
--A townhouse at pricey Beekman Place that belonged to the late William Rupp is now listed at $25 million. It sounds like Rupp was a bit of a grump, he built a massive wall on top of his house which he refused to remove. Now the wall is being torn down. The townhouse is one of only nine on the river side from 50-51st Street. The 12-room townhouse also has plans for a three-story addition on top of the existing two-story extension which have been approved by the city and would add another 1403 sq. ft. The listing is here.
--Yankees player Bobby Abreu has listed two-bedroom condo at One Beacon for $7.9 million. The spare and bare apartment, shown above, is listed here.

From the NY Post's Gimme Shelter:
--Cameron Diaz has picked up a five-room renovated residence in a prewar doorman building, with an asking price just under $3 million.
--Brooke Shields has been spotted looking at homes in New York City. She and husband Chris Hency have been seen checking out a four-bedroom townhouse on West 20th Street with close to a $7 million asking price.
--Holly Speyer Lipton, the daughter of Rockefeller Center owner Jerry Speyer, has purchased a 12-room Park Avenue co-op for $12 million.
--Alain Levy, the former head of EMI Music, has paid $6.274 million for a two-bedroom, two-plus-bath apartment with Fifth Avenue views from the 18th floor.

From the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties:
--As previously reported by the Real Estalker back in November, Vera Wang has listed her family's Palm Beach oceanfront mansion for $19 million. In November, the estate, which belonged to her father Cheng Ching Wang, was listed for $23 million.
--Jason Brand, president of Merrill Lynch Pacific Rim, has bought a Hawaii oceanfront house for $15.9 million, which is a full 39% below its original listing price.
--As we mentioned in January, the former Atlanta estate of the late Robert Woodruff, longtime chairman of Coca-Cola Co., is for sale for $13.9 million. Check out pictures at the estate of the day post here.

From Berg Properties Celebrity Big Time Listings:
--It's official, Richie Sambora has paid $4 million to purchase a Calabasas home from San Diego Padres starting pitcher Randy Wolf.
--Model and actress Kelly Van Halen (formerly married to Alex Van Halen) has listed her five-bedroom house in Encino. It is our estate of the day later today.
-TV talk show host and entertainment mogul Byron Allen has gone into escrow on the Hollywood Hills home that he had listed for $6.995 million.
--An Encino mansion that Macy Gray sold in December 2006 for $4,750,000 was listed at $11.7 million after a major rehab. It is now down to $9.96 million. The listing is here.
--Movie producer Gilbert Adler has listed his house in Beverly Hills for $7.9 million. The listing is here.

--Home makeover television host Ty Pennington has picked up a two-bedroom condo in the West Chelsea neighborhood in New York City. It had a $2.495 million asking price.
--Rumor has it that the nearly one-million-dollar two-bedroom apartment in New York that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden recently purchased may be back on the market soon.
--via Page Six, Jon Bon Jovi has sold his Upper West Side condo for $5.484 million.
--via Newsday, the home next to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's estate in Brookville, New York has been listed at $2.229 million. To get to the five-bedroom home you have to pass through the same "million-dollar gates" that Lopez and Anthony installed for protection. The listing is here.
--Also the nine-bedroom home next to Lopez and Anthony in Bel Air is also for sale for $6.995 million. The virtual tour is here.
--Jude Law has reportedly purchased the London house he's been leasing in the Maida Vale neighborhood for around £3,500,000.
--The Real Estalker Mama covers the real estate dealings of real estate agent Kurt Rappaport who sold his house on Calle Vista Drive in Beverly Hills to Tom Cruise for $30.5 million. He has now purchased a lavish home on N. Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills for $15.99 million.

From the LA Times Hot Property:
--As the Real Estalker previously reported, actor Sean Hayes has listed his Hancock Park home for $8.95 million. We covered it as our estate of the day a few weeks back.
--Stan Jolley, a movie art director, a TV producer-director and one of the original designers of Disneyland has nearly completed his work on a Maya-themed home in Rancho Mirage. He bought the house for $7.7 million and spent another $3.5 million on renovations and furnishings.
--A home that once belonged to 1940s Oscar-winning actor Van Heflin is listed for sale for $6.595 million. It currently belongs to Barry and Kathy Silverton. She was named the 23rd District's Woman of the Year by the state Senate in 2005. The listing for the home is here.
--An Outpost Estates home that was built for actor John Barrymore and has also been lived in by orchestra conductor André Previn and actors James Coburn and Lee Marvin is listed for $3.2 million. I wish the pictures were larger in the listing because this is a real slice of old Hollywood and has some very quirky details.

From the Times Online:
--8 St. James Square in London has set a new property record, with a price expected to be between £115 and £120 million. The property will be turned into six lavish apartments.
