Reed Krakoff's Limited Edition Fragrance For The Holidays

In the past year Coach president and creative director Reed Krakoff has stepped into the spotlight with his own Reed Krakoff brand. So far we've seen his elegant handbags and a ready-to-wear line. Now as part of his holiday gift collection he has created a new Reed Krakoff fragrance. The RK Limited Edition. According to an article on the Reed Krakoff website, he sought to create "the opposite of a mass fragrance." He traveled to Venice to work with glassmakers. The scent itself is described as having a "masculine-feminine sensibility" with note of black pepper and neroli leading to a heart of French hyacinth, white peony and violet and anchored by vetiver and orris. The fragrance is available for $695 and comes in four different colors--nude, grey, clear and silver fleck. There are a total of 400 glass bottles, each one hand-blown and hand-numbered in Murano, Italy by Seguso Viro. The package comes with two bottles of scent and a funnel to fill the bottle.

Reed Krakoff Boxer II Alligator Tote, Handbag of the Day

Krakoff beautifully combines sophistication and elegance in his Boxer II Tote. A simple silhouette is enhanced with luxurious sharkskin ($2,950) and alligator ($6,900) juxtaposed with conventional fabrics like duffle and flannel creating a unique and trendsetting handbag.

The Boxer II is adorned with straps around the opening in addition to straps hanging over the flap, which is fitting given that Krakoff says the Boxer II was "inspired by the idea of the wraps that boxers put around their wrists." The Fashion Statement: A Case for Roomy Trousers

Reed Krakoff's (Coach president and creative director) new ready-to-wear line this fall featured them. So did Pringle of Scotland. January Jones broke them out for the annual summer Louis Vuitton/Vanity Fair party on Rodeo Drive.

Skinny pants, could your end finally be in sight? Roomy, high-waisted trousers are showing up everywhere.

This isn't the first time roomy trousers have tried to get a jump on the ubiquitous skinny. For a brief moment in 2007, high-waisted wide legged jeans flooded the marketplace. In '08, the wide-legged palazzo had a moment. A year ago, the harem pants made a run for it gaining many headlines and about half as many fans.

What makes this time different? Time will tell.

Fashion is like a pendulum. For every action, there is a reaction. It was always a matter of time before flowing pants nudged skinny off her perch. It usually takes a few tries before the eye gets used to the new look. Even fashion critics who are used to continuous change, are hard to convince. Earlier this year, style.com had this to say on Pringle's slouchy trousers inspired by wading boots: "That's a lot of pant for a body to wear."

Will Coach's Creative Director Be His Own Brand?

Coach president and creative director Reed Krakoff has never entered the public lexicon the way other creative directors like Tom Ford have. But Krakoff, who has has had a long and influential career in fashion, may be stepping into the spotlight.

Fashion Week Daily says that Coach will be developing a new brand around Krakoff. The names "Reed," "Reed Krakoff," and "RK" have been registered with the United States Patent and Trademark office along with a couple of custom logos. The trademark could be used for ready-to-wear and leather goods or for personal care products as well as "hotel and restaurant services."

What does the always ambitious Krakoff have up his sleeve? Coach has only said that they always have new projects in development. Before joining Coach in 1996, Krakoff worked for Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger so he has learned about building a personal brand from the best in the business.
