Ray-Ban Launches Carbon Fiber Collection

Earlier this year we told you about Ray-Ban re-inventing classic sunglass styles with their Craft Leather Collection; now the famed eyewear brand has done it again, this time using high-tech carbon fiber. The two styles in the new Carbon Fiber Collection include a classic aviator (top) and a rectangular version of the iconic pilot's style. Carbon fiber, which is stronger and lighter than steel, is used on everything from supercars to jet fighters and the space shuttle. The sunglasses also employ a resin composite for added flexibility and resilience. Both the aviators ($160) and rectangular style ($180) feature lightweight polycarbonate lenses and slim elongated carbon fiber temples with rubber tips for added strength, comfort and non-slip grip. Both are now available with either polarized or non polarized lenses in multiple classic color combinations and matching carbon fiber-patterned cases from haute online eyewear boutique Eyegoodies.

Luxury sunglass boutique ILORI has just gotten in a shipment of the new limited edition white gold Ray-Ban Caravan UItra (above), of which only 1,000 pairs are available in North America. The sunglasses are a luxurious re-take on a classic Ray-Ban model, enhanced with revolutionary P3 PLUS system mirrored lenses, made of high-quality glass with a polarizing filter, anti-reflective treatment and an innovative water-repellent system. Plated in 18-carat white gold with tortoiseshell earpieces, they retail for $485 and are also available in an 18-carat yellow gold-plated version. Each pair is numbered on the inside of the arm.

Ray-Ban Ultra Gold

Aviator sunglasses are a classic design -- and it seems people either love 'em or hate 'em. If you're on the "love 'em" side then here's some news you'll probably like: Ray-Ban Ultra Gold Limited Edition glasses. There are only two different designs, features including ultra light titanium frames, P3 polarized lenses, anti-reflective coating, a cool hydrophobic moisture-wicking coating, and of course gold -- in the form of 22k gold plating. The "limited edition" refers to the fact that only 25,000 pairs of Ultra Gold glasses are being made, so if you get a pair you've legitimately earned the right to sport the popular "I'm too cool for you" aviator face while you wear them.
