Luxist Exclusive: Tory Burch Rain Gear for Breast Cancer Awareness

Happy October, everyone! You know what October means: Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Prepare to see a lot of pink -- it's for a good cause.

We managed to snag an exclusive first-look for you at what Tory Burch will be carrying to support BCA: this adorable set of rainboots & umbrella. The automatic umbrella, topped with a pretty, enamel logo, features a gleaming goldtone tube and a smart, black and white handle. The coup de theatre, of course, is the fabulously luxe signature Tory Burch print in a beautiful shade of pink which contrasts a rainy gray-blue sky masterfully.

The glamorously functional rainboots are so cheerful and chic, you'll be begging for it to rain. Who says a rainstorm means you have to look gloomy?

The umbrella is available from ToryBurch.com and Tory Burch boutiques as of today. The pink umbrella retails for $45.00 and the rain boots are $150.00. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from sales of these items in October will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

We love cashmere sweaters and we certainly know better than to get them wet -- until now. Allegri Milano has a collection of rainproof cashmere coats made of Rain Cashmere. Believe it or not, you can wear soft, luscious cashmere as outerwear. Allegri is the only company in North America making garments like this.

This textile innovation from the "Architects of Cashmere" (Allegri) is earning kudos and applause from the entire industry. Rain Cashmere is a 100% cashmere material; the waterproofing treatment is done at the thread level, allowing the cashmere knit to still feel like cashmere when it's woven together. We felt it ourselves, and can verify that the texture is soft and wispy, just as a tightly-knit cashmere should be.

Allegri's Rain Cashmere collection includes a five-pocket blazer, single-breasted coat with double lacing and a sporty blazer with a removable hood. The prices range from $995 to $1,595. "Affordable modern luxury is very important for the Allegri consumer in today's market, which explains our steady market position," says General Manager Gian Maria Argentini.

Allegri has created over 2,000 fabrics since the 1960s, including Gabardine and Neomax. You can find Allegri products in Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Yu, by Mane: A $5,000 Fragrance

How much would you pay to smell like rain at any given moment? $5,000? Mane is hoping so, as they've launched their newest fragrance, Yu, with just such a price point.

I don't know that any perfume is worth that much, no matter how good it smells, unless it comes in some kind of jewel-encrusted bottle. But it's been impressing critics, with New York Times fragrance expert Chandler Burr saying "You can smell the money in it."

Personally, I think money smells funny.

Raindrops Sculpture

At first glance, if I didn't know the name of this sculpture, I don't think "raindrops" would come to mind. But knowing that was the inspiration suddenly I totally see it, and it seems very alive with depth and color. Plus it almost appears to be in motion. The result of a partnership between Jonathan Adler and C. Jeré studio, this newly reissued Raindrops Sculpture is made of antiqued brass, is signed and dated (of course), and measures about 66"x34"x10". $1500

Rain Gauge For The Garden

My rain gauge looks vaguely like a piece of lab equipment, shaped like a large test tube and designed to be mounted on fence or other post. This rain gauge is far more elegant than the commonly found industrial designs, with a flaring glass cup atop a tall spike that can easily be slide into the ground in a garden. It would look great with a climbing vine wrapped around the base, or simply amongst tall plants, acting as a functional accent piece. It measures in both milliliters and inches. Price: £43.

Rain Dot Umbrella

April showers bring... the need for a new umbrella. How can you worry about May flowers when your hair is getting wet? Umbrellas are a useful tool that we don't give much thought to until caught in a down-pour and I have never had good luck from the $10 variety peddled by street vendors, no matter that they promise it's a real (insert designer name here). This time, I'm planning in advance. I love this Brick Rain Dot Umbrella from the Seattle company Pare Umbrella. It is 3-feet in diameter when opened and has a gorgeous natural rattan hooked handle.
