Maybach 57 by Project Kahn

Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler didn't exactly strike gold with the launch of the Maybach brand. The Rolls-Royce and Bentley rival failed to distinguish itself from the competition (or from its three-pointed-star brethren for that matter) and justify its enormous price tag. Project Kahn would like to help, though.

The British tuning house has a wealth of experience customizing everything from Range Rovers to Aston Martins and everything in between, including the occasional Rolls and Bentley. Their latest offering centers on the Maybach 57, upgrading on the standard specification with custom 22-inch wheels, smoked tail-lamps, tinted privacy glass and an interior that can be fully trimmed to order. The proverbial sky's the limit when it comes to the options, and on the price, so for yet another reason, don't expect to see one on a street near you any time soon.

Project Kahn McLaren SLR Carbon

Luxist readers will be familiar with the ultra-luxe customized Rolls-Royce motorcars made by bespoke British auto conversions house Project Kahn, such as the White Pearl Phantom and Drophead Coupe we wrote about previously. Now they've announced their newest model, the McLaren SLR Carbon. Based on the amazing Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR supercar, Project Kahn's version adds "stealth" exterior styling and carbon fiber features making it even more exclusive. Bonnet vents and badges blended black and smoked rear lights augment the stealth aspect, as does the privacy tinted glass. Kahn carbon F1-X wheels, a combination of carbon fiber with light magnesium alloy and Kahn valve caps complete the look. Inside a high gloss piano black or carbon fiber finish steering wheel complements front seats, door panels and dashboard finished in full beautiful Nappa leather or Alcantara.

Project Kahn "White Pearl" Rolls-Royce Phantom

Last month my colleague Deidre Woollard wrote about the bespoke Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe from British-based Project Kahn. Now the ultra-high end customizer has come out with their version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom saloon, dubbed the White Pearl (above). Khan boss Afzal Kahn notes that no modification was needed for the Rolls' V12 powertrain, as there is "no need to even worry about the engine as it is without a doubt one of the best engines made today."

The upgrades are cosmetic, therefore, consisting of 22" Silver Mist alloy wheels with Rolls center caps and a "meticulous diamond polish" for each spoke. The luxury cruiser also gets a unique Pearl White finish, hence the name. Interior flourishes are left up to the individual purchaser's whims, via a bespoke design service, though black piano trim is de rigeur. Project Kahn also recently debuted their take on the Range Rover Vogue, finished in white as well.

Stockholm-based Jameslist.com has just launched the "world's first truly transparent luxury marketplace", allowing buyers to find and compare high-end cars, watches, boats, yachts and aircraft from dealers around the world. The site features some 20,000 listings, including rare watches such as the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona, hard-to-find cars like the Maserati MC12 and Ferrari Superamerica, and magnificent 120+ ft. yachts from Palmer Johnson. The 350-plus global dealers on JamesList range from high-end custom builders such such as Project Kahn Design (their Bentley GTS Mulliner, above) to "traditional dealers with exceptional inventory" such as ExecuJet and Lamborghini Stuttgart.

"Given the recent roller-coaster of currency and market fluctuations, we saw an opportunity to give serious buyers the tools they need to find premium goods at the best possible price, regardless of where they are in the world," says JamesList CEO Noam Perski. "We have brought together the world's best dealers, from Alain Class Motors in Dubai to International Yacht Collection in Monaco, to offer international buyers a complete marketplace." Important functions for international deal making such as currency and unit conversion are built in to the heart of the platform, as well as language translation.

Project Kahn Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe

The latest bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom comes from customizers Project Kahn. Their version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is on 22-inch wheels that are 9.5 inches wide and designed to accommodate Rolls-Royce's original center caps. It comes in either a dark mist or silver mist color with tinted privacy glass and clear side lights. The interior is finished in custom napa leather with a steering wheel done in either piano black or carbon fiber. As Inside Line reports, Project Kahn modifies the cars from the factory and orders them with elm cluster veneer wood and lamb's wool rugs. They also throw in a Kahn keyring and a Kahn golfing umbrella with a carbon fiber shaft.
