Depp's Girlfriend Replaces Kirsten Dunst in Miu Miu Ads

Johnny Depp's gorgeous longtime girlfriend, French model/singer/actress Vanessa Paradis, has been chosen to replace Kirsten Dunst as the face of Miuccia Prada's sporty Miu Miu diffusion line. Paradis will appear in the label's futuristic Fall/Winter ads (right) shot by sought-after fashion photog duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot in Los Angeles, Vogue UK reports.

"At once a deconstruction and a pure visual composition, the campaign addresses the exploration of beauty in conjunction with intellect, imagination, and divergence," a Miu Miu rep says. Paradis has previously appeared in several ads for Chanel. She and Depp have been together for 10 years and have two children. Last year my colleague Deirdre Woolard reported that Depp had bought her a vineyard near St. Tropez.

Styledrops -- Italian Fashion, With Passion

While researching something for Luxist, I came across Styledrops, a fashion site for men, women and children that sells upscale Italian designer goods. For women, select from shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories. Same for men, minus the handbags. Kids get shoes and clothing. The site boasts "the best price you have ever seen on the Internet!"

A sampling of brands: Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Tod's, Hogan, Dior, Fratelli Rossetti, Ferragamo, Cesare Paciotti, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Frankie Morello. Check here for the whole list for women, men and kids. Choose by type of item, designer or price.

I haven't purchased from the site so I can't vouch for service or quality, but the site itself is easy to navigate and has some very high-end items.

The Classicist: A Bastion of British Style in the Burlington Arcade

Classic English shoe brand Church's was founded in 1873, but its roots date back to the late 1600s when a Northampton cobbler named Church first set up shop. The traditional shoemaker is known for its elegant footwear, which has been the choice of well-dressed British gentlemen for over 130 years. In 1999 Church's was acquired by the Prada group, and while some traditionalists bemoaned the end of an era, little of the company's core values have changed. Its high-end models, which have names like the Consul, the Diplomat, the Chetwynd and the Gunthorpe, are still handmade in Northampton and cost in the neighborhood of £300 pounds, or about $600.

Prada has certainly set about modernizing the brand however, which is known for durable style. The company recently redesigned Church's historic shop in London's Burlington Arcade, Britain's first shopping arcade, which was built by Lord George Cavendish in 1819 and houses some of the world's finest boutiques. The revamped shop incorporates some modern design elements while retaining the important historical fixtures. In addition to shoes, the store also stocks neckties, gentlemen's accessories and leathergoods. Part of Prada's plan to boost the brand's presence internationally, new Church's shops were also recently opened in Venice and Bologna.

Daphne Guinness Auction, Fashion For A Good Cause

Daphne Guiness, socialite and couture collector, has decided to jump on the bandwagon and perform her own spring cleaning in her closet -- except she is auctioning her unused and unwanted items to support the Womankind charity which benefits women in developing countries. The auction of such pieces from Chanel, Versace and Alexander McQueen happens today at 2 pm with Kerry Taylor Auction House in London. For those of us who can't make the lightning-speed trip over the pond, you can also bid via eBay. A typical lot of shoes may include four or more styles from Jimmy Choo, Yves Saint Laurent or Prada and will range from $80 to $400. There are also Marni coats and a Lanvin shredded ribbon dress. Although you have to be a size 37 shoe (that's in UK sizing) you don't have to fit into the gorgeous handbags, hats or accessories.

Prada Fairy Bag, Handbag of the Day

One of Prada's newest designs, the Prada Fairy Bag, has quickly become a hot item. Featuring an artistic drawing of fairies in black, plum, and earth tones, the bag has been spotted on the arms of several celebrities including Sienna Miller, Tilda Swiden, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, which may have contributed to it selling out at Neiman Marcus in just 2 days. Made of deerskin it's a very simple shape with top handles and measures 10 1/5" x 14 1/5" x 6" for $2290. Plus there's a smaller clutch version for about $300.

Leiber Voted Most Prestigious Handbag Brand

Since 1953, every American First Lady has carried a custom-made Leiber handbag to the Presidential Inauguration. Over the years, Judith Leiber's hand-crafted bejeweled creations have found their way into the permanent collections of The Smithsonian Institute, the Victoria and Albert Museum as well as the hands of discriminating women everywhere. It is therefore no surprise that Leiber handbags were named the most prestigious handbag brand in the Luxury Institute's 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index survey. The index surveys 783 high-net worth consumers with an average income of $305,000 per year and an average net worth of $2.2 million. In particular, women over 45 with a net worth greater than $5 million gave high marks to the elegant Leiber handbag. In the survey, which included 26 high-end labels, Hermès and Prada also rose to the top, coming in second and third, respectively.

Love to Shop? The Best Places for a VIP Experience

Shopping is one of those things that's pretty darn fun in all but the worst of circumstances, but of course there's always room for it to be even better! VIP shopping experiences are available to only the biggest of spenders, which means you get in by actually shopping a lot instead of by paying a fee for the services.

So where do those "biggest spenders" do their spending?
A VIP experience is a very subjective thing, so it's really all about your personal experience and taste. Would you change anything on this list?

Prada's New Tricks

It's been a while since I checked out the Prada tricks and they have definitely evolved. Last time I looked at the popular baubles which clip on to purses and cell phones they were rudimentary leather pieces. Now the latest lines include miniature teddy bears (which remind me of the little animals we used to clip on our tote bags back in the 1980s) and the Travel tricks which are reproductions of magnets for the dashboards of gentlemen's cars from the Prada archives. The Prada tricks are priced between $130 and $225.

Prada Spazzalato Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Neiman Marcus first opened its doors on September 10, 1907 - that's 100 years of great shopping to celebrate. NM is doing so in typical style with exclusive offerings from top designers in every department, including handbags. Prada marks the occasion with this beautiful clutch in a rich cherry leather. It's a simple fold-over with a magnetic snap closure and features a gold embossed luggage tag hanging from a slim leather strap. Also available in nude and black. $995.

Prada 'Animalier' Dragon Belt

My personal taste in belts leans towards simple and classic, but some prefer edgy conversation starters and have a thing for dragons. This 'Animalier' dragon belt by Prada is just the thing if you're one of the latter, depicting a dragon and snake battling it out in goldtone on black croc printed leather. It's made in Italy and the belt is 1 1/2" wide with a hooked pin closure, and the buckle itself measures 3 3/4" by 2 1/4". $436

Way too gaudy for me, but then I've seen people pull off stranger accessories with the right outfit and attitude -- more power to 'em!

Prada Chevron Dome Bowler, Handbag of the Day

I love red, but this bag might actually be too red. On the other hand, if you are going to pay $2495 for a bag, maybe you want to be noticed. Made from shiny chevron-quilted leather, this bowler from Prada's Fall collection features minimal gold-tone hardware and lots of style. With top handles and a detachable shoulder strap, it's as versatile as it is striking. The bag is also available in black with silver-tone hardware, but if you are going to do it, you may as well do it in red.

Prada Ombre Large Boston Bag, Handbag of the Day

It may not be the most practical way to spend $1000, but at Luxist we are not about being practical - we are about luxury! And the Prada Ombre Large Boston Bag is not only super luxe but gorgeous as well. Made of pigskin, the ivory and dark tones are visually captivating while the minimalist design adds an air of mystery and elegance. And not to knock it, but it can be a refreshing change when a bag is not plastered with logos or a brightly colored design. Personally, I am a fan of all bags that grab and keep my attention. The leather double handles measures at 19" and has a 7" drop. Prada's understated Boston Bag is perfect for your next jet setting weekend plans. Dimensions: 15¾ '' wide x 11¼'' tall x 6¾'' deep. Price: $1036.

Burberry Canvas Crest Hobo, Handbag of the Day

Where have I seen something quite this tacky? Oh, I remember. Lately Burberry's been doing well. The Manor bag and the sliver check are both winners in my book. This one however is a clunker. The solid canvas hobo has a Burberry crest embroidery with pebbled grain leather trim and strap. The bag comes in stone with white details. If you must, it sells for $470.
