Gadhafi May Bunk At The Pierre
Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels
Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has been planning a trip to New York City for a while. He had originally planned to pitch a luxurious tent on an estate in New Jersey but now it looks like he may have a new address. Various sources are reporting that he may end up at New York's luxurious Pierre hotel. Suites have been reserved at various NYC hotels including the Hilton and the Plaza by Gadhafi and his entourage for the UN General Assembly which starts on Tuesday. Gadhafi is expected to arrive the following week. Negative sentiment toward Gadhafi is particularly high lately following the release of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the only man arrested in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 so security will no doubt be tight. The Taj Pierre Grand suites can accommodate up to six connecting bedrooms under just one key and have landscaped terraces suitable for large-scale entertaining. Another controversial figure, Iran's leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, will be staying at the Barclay New York hotel on East 48th Street.
